Why not both?

Why not both because I don't want to answer?

NINTENDO HAS BLOWN UP AND CAN ONLY CREATE ONE TYPE OF GAME. NEW IPS OR OLD. WHAT DO YOU CHOOSE?

A company that can only create new IPs, that sounds fun.

Nintendo fans can't choose. We want all!

What i want more? I want the old franchises. Those were the ones i played since a kid and i would really like to play them always.

New IPs

The perception that Nintendo is just a Mario/Zelda recycling plant is one of the deepest thorns in their side.
This needs to be remedied urgently.

If its like against Steam and Splatoon, then Old IPs no doubt. But if its like a new IP with loads of effort put into them like in the level of Zelda or SSB or MK or Galaxy, then yea, new IP

Nintendo's strategy (should be);

Cultivate young or undeveloped IPs with better marketing

Revive old IPs that have potential

Create new IPs that create even more variety

Bring in 3rd and 2nd party exclusives to supplement (new IP and old IP)

Market everything.

They are already doing most of this. The last one is what they failed at (really hard) in 2012 and 2013 and January-March of this year.

If I had to pick just one at this very moment, I would say old IP. Nintendo is already absurdly diverse, they just need to show it more through marketing. Heck, even some of their "major" IP have been hamstringed by horrid marketing (Metroid)
