Forums - Gaming Discussion - Games you knew were bad, but loved anyway.

I think we all have at least one game we can name. A game that was never a critical darling, but even despite its flaws it still holds a special place in your heart.

For me, Cruisn' USA definitely springs to mind. It was a graphical downgrade from the arcade version, and the gameplay was limited and a bit wonky at times. I played it a ton on N64 as a kid. I loved the crazy crash sequences, the weird Bill Clinton reference at the end, and the soundtrack was catchy.

What about you guys? Feel free to name more than one if you can.

18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker.

My parents bought me this game for Christmas way back in 2002 for the Gamecube. I was only 7 years old back then, so I was likely to like anything thrown at me.

The game was so, so cheesy. All the lines the other AI truckers said were so silly. "There's a traffic jam! And it's all your fault!"

Apparently (according to other people), it wasn't very good. IGN gave it 5/10, and Gamespot gave it a 4.6.

Spent like 2000+ hours on it

Haha love me some Cruis'n USA... that game was the epitome of "yeah its bad but ya gotta love it anyway".

I used to love Roger Rabbit on the NES too simply because I loved the movie.

The Ren & Stimpy games on SNES are other good examples as they were (generally) crappy games but I loved them because of the show... same thing for Krusty's Super Fun House.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Delta Force Black Hawk Down

As a kid i loved The World Is Not Enough on 64, i probably played it even more than goldeneye. I recently popped it in for a little bit and the controls are pretty damn bad.

Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring for Xbox, it's not great but I always thought it was somewhat decent. Reviews say Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team is rather meh but I thought that game was great.

I'm a big fan of Bloodrayne.  I loved the first game to death.  I thought it was a complete blast and the atmosphere was awesome.  The Nazi fortress was one of my favorite levels of any game.  I loved how much of the time there were battles going on with the two sides trying to kill you and each other.  Rayne's dialogue was fun and some of the enemies were fantastic.
