Forums - Music Discussion - Taylor Swift's 1989 Album About To Smash A Record!

Most musicans make music with their heart and soul (if you look past pop music)...Although, I have to admit, I find it hard to see much "heart and soul" in pretty much all of the singles I've heard from Taylor over the last few years.

What are you saying?  When she broke up with that one guy, I totally felt it.  I was like, omigosh, it just stabs right through me.

And I heard you moved on from whispers on the street

A new notch in your belt is all I'll ever be

Now I see, Now I see

I mean, GOD.  Contrast that with someone like, I don't know, Keats.

Darkling I listen; and, for many a time

I have been half in love with easeful Death,

Call'd him soft names in many a musèd rhyme,

  To take into the air my quiet breath;

Now more than ever seems it rich to die,

To cease upon the midnight with no pain,

While thou art pouring forth thy soul abroad

          In such an ecstasy!

Still wouldst thou sing, and I have ears in vain—

To thy high requiem become a sod.

I can barely tell them apart.  She's a genius.  It makes me want to cry.

LOL Kristen and Nicki wish they could be Taylor. Taylor is the most famous musician in the world right now, yes even bigger than Adele. Taylor isn't misunderstood at all.. She has the record sales to prove it, and you can count her Grammys.

Reputation proceeds me, they told you I'm crazy, I swear I don't love the drama it loves me <3

I have to admit I cannot stand Taylor Swift. It's not a issue with her so much, she seems like a pretty down to earth person in interviews and such. But good god how many breakup songs can one artist make? he's also like...23 year old who's been rich and famous for her entire adult life. How hard can her life really be?

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Money isn't everything, but when you have such precious hands to write such crafty real heart wreching soul shaking lyrics it just electrifies me. She feels pain beyond belief based on her lyrics. She's such a happy person on the outside, but you can tell that she's been through a lot that most people will never experience. For instance, when she sang I Knew You Were Trouble, she knew she was walking right into a trap, but her heart lead her into the explosions, but she projected her mistakes so cleverly through music.. She takes my breath away, I can't even describe it, she's so talented and we're so small.

Exactly, how many times can one "fall in love"?

Some people open their heart easily to others. I wish she wouldn't do it, but she just wants love, like the entire human race. She's just a human.

I like her new direction. It definitely seems like she is trying to strike a balance between remaining "true to herself" while experimenting with her sound. "Out of the Woods" sounds like it had some influence from Lorde's style, and I really like that. I have yet to listen through the whole album, but I plan to.

And as she said, "haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate."

A sad day for music indeed if the above is true.

Soooo true. I totally heard Lorde's influence in Out Of The Woods. Lorde apparently chair danced to "Style". I can't wait to hear your full thoughts on the album. There are some real gems on that album. To be honest, the only song I'm not 100% fond of yet is Wildest Dreams.

You're so right. Haters gonna hate haha.
