Here we go...

She is about as good representation of women as Nathan Drake is of men. A strong, intelligent person that loves her/his friends and with an objective (usually to save the world). The sex part is in your head. That is what upsets me about the whole discussion when a reviewer brings these things to the forefront. Its in your head, not on mine. I happen to see the good in people. Bayonetta is a dark heroine that loves her friend and saves the world. How is this a bad representation of women? The sexist way would say that women just go at each others throats whenever they can. More accurate? Perhaps, but its not what the game is representing.

Oh and btw... Bayonetta was created by a woman.

The sex part is in your head?  The game uses the word Climax about 15 times in the menus alone.  She poledances throughout the ending credits.  Her clothes come off as she attacks.  The debut trailer asks "do you want to touch me".

Now, you're free to have your own opinion on the sexuality.  If you think it's empowering than whatever.  But, you can't deny that the developers intentionally emphasized this aspect.

Of course, the sugestion is there, but its up to you what you make with it. I see it as comedy personally.

There is no implied rape scene in Bayonetta, you're thinking of Tomb Raider.

Bayonetta is the top dog, the alpha predator of her world; she spends the entire game slaughtering angels, demons, dragons, and demigods, anyone who gets in her way. At no point does she compromise herself in submission to a male character. Hell, she often has to rescue the less capable male characters.

Nah the Rodin battle. It's one of his attacks. The screen goes blank and it comes back with Bayonetta being naked with her hand over her ass while he smokes a cigar.

I have not seen this, can you provide a video link? Though that doesn't necessarily imply rape I'd contend. S&M is well within the game's conceptual scope.

Can't find the Bayo2 one online but here's basically the same thing in the first game.

And sure.. It's not necessarily rape, but it goes against the idea that Bayonetta is always in charge of her sexuality and walking all over men. Personally I think the imagery is abundantly clear what is going on.

Here we go indeed...

The sex part is in my head? That would be because the camera is constantly staring at her crotch. How would you feel if most of the time the camera was staring at the massive bulge in Nathan Drake's pants? Would you feel that he's just in control of his sexuality? Or would you feel the director of the game is just being perverse because they are deriving sexual pleasure from the erection and feel their market would as well?

Perhaps we should applaud porn stars for owning their sexuality too? Many of them constantly moan about how badly they want it. Only of course they don't, they're being told what to say by a usually male director. Exactly as Bayonetta is.

She was not created by a woman. Nice try though. She is created by Kamiya who is the definition of a sexist pig. Talking about her like she has feelings and her own emotions is absurd because she is a video game character who is directed in her actions by a male to appeal to a male audience. And yes her model was worked on by a female... so what, females can be sexist too.

They dont do that on Uncharted because then it would be deemed as gay. Maybe i should point at Kratos from God of War? He wears almost nothing the whole game, barechested throughout the whole game. No problem there? Conveniently forgotten.

The game sugests but what you make of it is in your head. If by seeing a woman gallop on a horse from behind equals sex in your mind, its because you think it so. There is no sex there. That is one of the reasons why the game is so great. It sugests so you can feel a response, but it never forces you to do it. Its your choice and its in your head. You arent a character in the Bayonetta world.

You are mistaken about the creation aswell, she was created by Mari Shimazaki. She was created to be the model of a strong and confident woman, wich she most certainly is. Also, i will not accept what is a biased opinion as any sort of proof. You said she is the model of some male japanese fetish, but that is just not possible because it was a woman that designed her. Are you gonna say Hideki went into her head and made her drawn that exact character for her? Seriously...

That's a character designer. She designs what the character looks like. That's all.

Are you incapable of seeing how incredible sexist your view of the world is? "We focus on the pretty ladies and not on men." That's sexist. And wtf??? Women DON'T like all men enjoying their sexual presentation. IF you truly believe this, your view of the world is incredibly creepy and perverted.

Nathan Drake's incredible looks are represented modestly and not obscenely represented. This is what I'm saying. Why are Bayonetta's boobs constantly on display? Why is she constantly naked? Why can the game industry represent men in a respectful way that conveys their beauty and power, while women have to be turned into porn stars?

Don't know why you're bringing GOW's cringe-worthy scenes into this? It only provides further evidence about how immature the game industry is and how their representation of women is neolithic.

Actually women do like that. Why do you think pretty women dress sexier than ugly ones? Because they know they are beautiful and they want the world to see it. I'm into the seduction lately and you can make a woman blush and smile by only saying she's sexy. They want to be beautiful and they want us men to see this. That is not sexist, that is the truth and our nature.

S&M can be and usually is completely consensual, and since Rodin is a friendly character in the game's universe and your fight with him essentially a sparring match, this doesn't strike me as insinuating rape. Hey, he coulda just spanked her, she does that to the baddies often enough.

And this only happens when you get hit, so just like when you die during the campaign, its essentially you the player failing to live up to her character's proper standards.

Also guys, let's please try to keep this civil and respectful. There's no reason this has to get ugly.

I think there is an argument that a strong sexy character can be portrayed in an empowering way, but Bayonetta is very far away from being that character. The crotch and breast shots have no reason other than to pander to horny males. Platinum is far too immature to tackle the subject in an appopriate way, and Kamiya has never pretended the character is meant to be anything other than a male sex fantasy.

To repeat myself, Nathan Drake is a sexy and empowered male and at no point does the game have to zoom in on a comically enlarged penis to convey that point. It only occurs in Bayonetta because young immature boys and sex depraved men want to see polygon boobs.

As for Bayonetta being in total control, that implied rape scene really makes a bit of a mockery of that.

Wait.  What?  I've just finished Bayonetta 1 and I'm about to fire up part two today.  Did you just spoil it for me?  If so, thanks.  Guess that's what I get for reading a thread about whether or not people are enjoying the game. :(
