If I'm not mistaken ioi (owner of this site) was a member of neogaf who made suggestions of how they could do things a little better there, he got flamed and told to fuck off and make his own site if he thought he could do it... so vgchartz was born and he did what they suggested o/

Because most videogames forum suffer from sales reports.  Some of the best forums were I had very interesting discussions turned in a troll hell when sales get posted...

Vgchartz sales are not a fact so posting them can lead to very ugly discussions especially when they get updated and a lot of data change...

This in combination with some NPD guys trying very hard to look VGchartz back on Neogaf make people hate VGchartz..

Incorrect. Our leader formed a specific following and lead an exodus to the promised forum lands. Vgchartz was born.

People in VGC complain about the ridiculous (100k+) overtracking and undertracking on a weekly basis, but here they are week after week without doing anything about it (what can we do anyway?)

Neogaf complained about the same, and they actually did something. Banned the site.

Everyone here got butthurt.

That's really all there is to it. Sure there have been disagreements from way back before this site even existed, but the hate didn't really start until VG got banned on GAF.

I think it may have something to do with some of the people on this site arguing constantly over numbers we all know are inaccurate at best. Then there is the fact that Gaf only really deals with NPD's official numbers which makes those on this site who bicker look even more ridiculous. Perhaps it wouldn't be such a problem if this site were named something other than VGChartz? A self-proclaimed video game chart site that can't track numbers accurately? It's slightly ridiculous. Also, "Chartz"?????
