For some people scientific facts and evidence are demons.

What happened to that quantum black hole that would swallow up the earth.
And messing around with the higgs boson could maybe trigger a phase transition wiping everything in an instant.

Or maybe Cern is just a little speck compared to what goes on daily in the universe. We could be wiped out by Eta Carinae any minute as well. That binary system is playing Russian roulette with us.
