Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony on track to lose 2.1 billion dollars

Yeah blame it on everything else except the gaming division. The truth is that the gaming division is not making big profits either...

How is the gaming division the problem then?

On the bright side this should only last till 2016 after the restructuring is done. Well... hopefully ^^;;

"Sony's Doom I tells ya Dooooooooooooooooooooom"

Ya it's silly calling doomed I'm sure you agree, but a lot of people here act like news like this is nothing and meaningless.

It's like we see these threads every of so often, y'know? I almost thought Kowen made this.

So?

And we do, Sony is continually getting in worse shape, not better.

Actually Sony is doing better and better. The huge loss in mobila was due to a wrie-down in goodwill. Their mobile division actually made an operating profit and every segment except mobile (which I've already explained why) and pictures made a profit. They're on their way to making a profit in fiscal year 2015.

This is one of the few posts I've seen you make where you haven't properly researched the subject.

Sony loses money from yen devaluation...

EDIT: nvm, it's beneficial for them.

Businesswars as usual. American companies probably would like to buy into sony before they actually make profits again.

Sony should sell itself some insurance. Yikes. I hope the PS4 is geared for profit.

That would ruin them finally.

In seriousness, this is not good for the company. Yes, it needs years before a big company like Sony goes under and reverse cource is possible, look at Yahoo, Nokia or Apple. But sometime it happens. I hope if it does, the Playstation band lands in good hands, that don't ruin gaming. I'm sure it will be sold, as it is profitable.

10 years greatest game event!

I still believe Sony can turn this around

I know they've been doing it for years, but much of the losses are due to write downs more than actual issues. The only genuine concern I have is that they might break their best money-spinner, Spiderman

They haven't reaped the benefits of the spin off of the Bravia TV division or of VAIO. The problem is mobile, but they seem to be consistently putting out better and better phones and are doing better at selling them in America. Chinese phone manufacturers are a threat, but I think Sony have enough quality and brand strength to make some money. More so than HTC or LG

Having said all that, I've been optimistic for the last few years and constantly disappointed. I just hope when I comes time to replace my Sony phone, my Sony headphones, my Sony TVs, my Sony PS Vita, my Sony PS4, my other Sony headphones, my other Sony headphones, my Sony earphones and my other Sony earphones that there's still a Sony to buy from. Because my Sony Vaio is not going to be replaced my a Vaio unless I move to Japan

* Yes I have 5 Sony ear/headphones. 1 wireless, 1 portable, 1 headset, 1 dirt cheap, 1 free with my Z2 (they use digital noise cancelling from the phone, it's really impressive). Also, my Vita is going to be replaced with a 3DS

Lucky the Yen is working in their favor or the losses would have been higher o_o...

Is Sony losing those millions for years? I mean, how can they handle this situation?
