Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Any gen where you preferred the competitors console rather than your favorite company's?

ps3 over Wii because of Dead Space and Red Dead Redemption

Around the Network

Yes, Nintendo with the NES. Sega Master System was better in every way, IMO.

Started with me getting a PS1 all those years ago, was a good ride and likewise with the PS2 but by the time I got to the PS3 I was told I'd need a "second job" to afford my PS3, needless to say I was pretty pissed but eventually managed to buy the expensive console (at the time), only for it to break on me a year and a half later and by then I wasn't willing to throw more money again for another PS3 so I opted for the 360 because it was cheaper, my friends bought the console and it had games I wanted to play and it gave me a good 5-6 years worth of gaming fun.

Now I own neither last gen console due to money issues a year ago which only leaves me with a PC which I'm somewhat ok with but I yearn for having a console back in my gaming life, by the time the "next gen" consoles were shown I was pretty mad at MS for the shit they pulled and I wasn't really too into the Wii U back in 2012 and PS4 didn't really give me the wow factor, at least a year later and after MS cleaned up most of the crap Nelson made I've changed my view of them since they've also got games I now want from them, same with the WIi U especially since their library is looking pretty nice to me but Sony on the other hand still doesn't give me anything to go with, what they offer currently and will for 2015 really doesn't make me want to buy one, the cheaper XB1 and Wii U with games I actually want is more than enough of a deal for me and having two of them with my PC means I can easily ride most if not this entire gen without worrying for a PS4 because let's face it if they've failed to grab me after a solid year and probably fail the next I can't see myself buying one until maybe 6 years later when it's much cheaper and has games by then that I might actually want.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

Last gen, I probably ended up liking the PS3 more even though Nintendo is my favourite company. While the Wii had a number of games I adored, like the two Zeldas, Metroid Prime 3, Smash Bros. Brawl and others, I think the PS3 was a more complete package and a longer lifespan. Plus, it had a bunch of exclusives I loved too, like Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank and InFamous. Every other gen though, Nintendo's had my favourite console. We'll see what happens with the Wii U and PS4 though.

I preferred the Xbox over the GameCube. PS1 and N64 I liked pretty equally.

I was solidly in Nintedo's corner until last gen... had to get a 360, the Wii alone just didn't cut it for me, and the 360 ended up being my primary console shortly thereafter.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I've loved Nintendo since I was a little kid with an Nes but I've always gone where I think the best games are. PS1, PS2, and Xbox 360 won their gens in my eyes. Hell, last gen the Wii was my least favorite (though I owned more Wii games than PS3 games).

Right now, I'm loving the Wii U but the Xbox One is already breathing down its neck. I think PS4 will trump them both once the good games start flowing in.

Never preferred any company over the other :P.

But really every console I have owned, I felt like they were worth it. I find most exclusives fun on any console.

A certain year might make me prefer other systems though. In the 90s and early 2000s at some point I preferred PC massively due to the golden age of strategy games. In 2005 I preferred PC due to WoW. In later PS3 years I preffered the PS3 due to all the exclusives still coming out and jrpgs. I just play games where the games are. So that makes any choice a good one :D.

Always Ninty. Forever and ever.
