Forums - Gaming Discussion - Will the Xbox Ones price drop slow down the Wii U's holiday season?

Think XB1 will put a lump of coal in the Wii U's stocking?

Yes 84 40.58%

No 123 59.42%

Total:207

As we've all found out and some might have predicted (via speculation about things Pachter has said) the Xbox One is about to drop in price and is coming to stores near everyone at a cool $350 in the US with a bundled game. Obviously this is try to catch up to Sony, but of course there is someone some might have forgotten becoming victim in the crossfire and that is the Wii U. The Wii U is sitting at a price of $299 and you have the option to buy a game with it. To buy a new game with it would cost ten dollars more than a bundled Xbox One with a game. I've seen the Wii U bundles like the Zelda Windwaker one at $299  on Gamestop, but do you think they will be able to justify its value to the customer? What do you think? I'll add my input later.

Not really, think they're going after different audiences.

If it is going to hurt anything, it is going to be the PS4

The WII U's holiday season would've slowed down regardless ...

When the competition's have a better offers it's no wonder your going to have to compete with everyone ...

I doubt many of those tempted to get an Xbox One because of this price cut would want a Wii U anyway due to it's limited variety of games. So I don't think it will affect Wii U sales much at all.

Due to its limited variety of games?

Character Action, Kart racer, platformers 3D and 2D, whatever w101 is, musou, fighting, puzzle, adventure, strategy, and indies within the last year.

There's more variety on Nintendo than either of the other current gen consoles.

That hasn't been denied, hence the reason for the price drop. My question is how badly will NIntendo suffer for it with consumers since its now comfortably in between the price of the WIi U and the PS4 for the holiday season?

Nah, due to the sheer variety thanks to 3rd party this isn't true.

XB1 for instance has Simulation, Sim Racing, Arcade Racing, Fighting, Action, FPS, Open World,  TPS, Platformer, Sports, Music/Rythem, Sandbox, Survival Horror and Fitness. And that's just exclusives.

The winner of x1 and wii-u is like winning special olympics.....

I don't believe so. If this was the Wii I would agree, but this is the WIi U which is trying to go for a more core audience much like MIcrosoft and Sony, but lacks third party support.

I think he means third party.
