Forums - Sales Discussion - Ars Technica: Updated numbers show PS4 with at least 65 percent of two-console market

After all the critics these guys received last time I guess it needed to show that they fixed the mistakes.

I agree with the maths now... my first estiamte give me a ~7.3m for Xbone but I changed to 7.5m because my bias and the possible chance to 360 have sold less than 700k in last quarter and 50/50 in the previous one.

I guess 7.35m estimate close to real situation.

That's a huge percentage! But what's the two-console market, is that just PS4 vs Xbox One?

Yeap... between PS4 and Xbone.

"Last week, we waded into the somewhat murky waters of console sales number reporting. Our estimate was that Sony had at least 59 percent of the market share in the battle between the PS4 and Xbox One. Since then, newly released numbers, plus a new look at some assumptions about the Xbox One market, have us revising Sony's share of that market upward. We now think it's in the 65 to 67 percent range."

That meant about the last six months.

Okay then.....

Impressive sales for PS4 and 3-1 in shiped vs xbox.

To these curious this is the last week estimates.

What's really impressive, is that in just the last 6 months sony has shipped 6M PS4s. Thats just shy of the LTD shipped totals of both the XB1 (6.7M/7.3M) or the WiiU (7.2M).

Mind blowing. I also agree with their assessment of how to analyse sales from shipped totals. Which should explain why at some point this year we were hearing about stores ordering fewer XB1s or something like that.
