Seriously, didn't think much of this till now. Knew about Sarkeesian, Quinn, Unethical VGJournalism, but I just dismissed it.

Seems a lot more important since I'm pretty sure we're all gamers in one way or another.

Quick question: If I use a British accent and then use snippets of articles and tweets, and events out of context and accuse #GG of being a cabal/cult/conspiracy of a bunch of 4chan/8chan guys that want to raise Cthulhu and destroy the world, will people take me seriously?

Unfortunately, lot of weak minded are falling for the whole "misogyny" BS that press is pushing...but there's no surprise there really - what else would gaming press come up with anyway, since their integrity and honesty is questioned, but diverting the topic and trying to demonize GG, which is oldest trick in the book?

What's hilarious about GG is both warring parties are leftist, both journalists/indies and gamers who largely pro-piracy, stop making money give me free games crowd. They both use same tactics to defame each other. It is strange that gawker media didn't understand that before letting their journalists go after gamers.

I haven't watched the video yet, but I think it's important to remember that no matter what GamerGate started out as, it's changed. Media (and not just gaming media - media as a whole) has determined what it is about NOW. The discourse now is about misogyny within the gaming community, that has been determined by the larger debate.

GG "followers" might argue that it's about journalistic integrity, but that's not what is being discussed when talking about GG nowadays; it's shifted towards death threats and online harassment.
