It's seems like there can only be so many gamemodes one can put into a game of 4 vs 1.  I love the concept of it but I fear it will get old fast.  What do you guys think?

There are still people playing the same 3 maps of CS1.6 which only has one mode.

this. infintiy replay value (if! done right)

If it's all online then not really I don't. I can only replay stories and cinematic games seem to be the most replayable such as Uncharted or Batman or such. They're just fun to run through again on easy after platinuming (ie I beat them on hard then coast for fun on subsequent playthroughs).

OT: I don't think so, at least to me, since I'm very strict on replay ability when it comes to me buying a game, or not. It's a big factor.

JUST 4 vs 1 would probably get old quite quickly...

My knee jerk reaction is no. I played a couple games, had some fun, but I can't see myself playing a ton of it.

I like it though, this is something I'd like to own eventually.

As much replay value as any other online shooter.

There will no doubt be more modes or slight variations of same modes to come out at a later date.... and for a price.

I worry more about how limited the single player modes will be (if there even is any).

I tried the big alpha and I think that is a really boring game

I tried to get into alpha, but it just tells me that the servers are at capacity...

Will give it a shot later during the weekend.

The only reason I am actually trying to play alpha is to find out the answer in the OP, because from its announcement, I consider this game a probable failure. It is online multiplayer only, 4 vs. 1, with strong accent on player cooperation...

a) It reminds me a lot of L4D's Versus mode. However, that was only one part of a larger, more complete game, a game I had tons of fun with...in the campaign,,,
b) Since it reminds me of a), I feel it is way overpriced at full retail. Creating a co-op campaign similar to L4D would definitely bring me closer to buying the game, as vell as prolong the replayability...
c) In my experience with online multiplayer, most people don't care or don't put out an effort to communicate with each other. This will make the game almost unplayable when on the hunter's side... Therefore...
d) It will be a game heavily dependant on party/friends playing... This is actually the biggest reason why I most likely will skip it (regardless of alpha), because I have a hectic and unpredictable gaming schedule, playing games in short bursts when I have a chance, and certainly don't have the will or ability to coordinate my gaming sessions with 4 more people. I would guess many people have a similar problem...

In short, I'll reserve my final opinion until 2K lets me in to play a few matches, but going on specifications only, I would say this game will not be a good seller, and will not be played very long by those few that buy it...

I played a few matches last night. In general I had a lot of fun and am eager to play more tonight. What struck me was that it felt quite different to most online shooters, whether that novelty wears off quite soon is my only worry.

It will be interesting to learn more about other modes, campaign etc.

Finally it should be noted that it is an alpha and thus (hopefully) only a small slice of the game. As I said I'm looking forward to playing more which is quite a good early sign!
