Forums - Sales Discussion - Playstation digital Sales must be huge.

Look at top sellers for October. $10, $20, $50 & $100 are all in the top 6. Sony is absolutely winning with digital cash. There is no way people are not buying a lot digital be it full games or DLC. I think people are under estimating digital.

I am sure they are not small, but PS Cash cards have been purchased in large doses for a long time due to:

1. Delays in bringing them out in Europe, leading to large pent up demand.

2. Sony's perceived appalling ability to protect your credit card details.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Maybe people are reluctant to give Sony their credit card info.

I use Paypal on Xbox.

doesn't change the fact massive nmbers of cards are being bought. Look at the best sellers for the whole of 2014. Top 3 are PSN store cards. THe revenue generated must be huge.

I would be too.

I'm yet to update mine! My card expired. Will Paypal still withdraw money from my account?

One if the reasons is Sony's dominance in offering digital-only games. Offering a better quality environment with a significantly larger user base, while refusing to enforce discriminatory rules onto the developers has brought masses of quality indie games to the platform.
And Sony is now reaping benefits of its user and developer friendliness.

I'm not denying digital sales are popular. I'm just pointing out a reason people are buying those cards.

Minecraft is one of the best selling games on on Xbox just from digital downloads. People are really embracing digital downloads on Sony and MS platforms.

Minecraft selling huge digital numbers. When it had about 30k ratings on the PS3 they announced it had sold over 1.5M digital on the PS3. It's at over 70k ratings now so sales must be decent.

But the PS4 has already amassed over 43k ratings so it's selling at a huge rate digitally on PSN. Those ratings are only from the EU store but with the past sales announcement for the PS3 version it's easy to know that PS4 minecraft is doing big numbers.

Yep. I can attest to this. I only have 3 physical disc games for my PS4, and 2 of them are actually PS3 discs! I have at least a dozen digital titles though.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. A couple of my friends that own a playstation don't use their credit cards for purchases through PSN but just buy those gift cards.
