The Pigeon shoot thing sounds horrible, but I'm kind of glad the other part of the bill got shot down as well.

If people want to eat dogs and cats what's wrong with that. It's no different from killing and eating cows or chickens, but that's ok. Some people are just oversensitive about certain animals.

Agreed. Generally, here in the USA we love dogs and cats, but because we do, we can't eat them? What happens when if we begin loving cows? No more hamburgers?

Let people eat what they want, as long as it isn't human.

In the case of the pigeon shooting, at least they have people go around and snap the necks of the unforunate ones that did not get away or did not die and are left suffering, but either way, big whoop. It's pigeons. We have them all over NYC.

Call me an asshole for saying that, I don't care. They get run over by taxis all day long.

I believe horse meat is legal as well, but only in some areas.

What do you think of this organization?

Awesome.

I will soon own a gun.

Part of me enjoys knowing that regardless of what happens, I will always know I have the protection of a fire arm in my home.

The NRA? Well, if you need an example of scum of the earth...

I am a Licensed gun owner/hunter in Australia I look over at the NRA and wonder how you guys survive in the US when a bunch of nutcases have so much power. The strong gun laws here were one of the best things that happened here.

The NRA is absurdly powerful. They can determine if a bill passes or fails. Our supposed representatives wait on the NRA before taking action. They can determine who is elected in local office. It's frightening.

People should hold no illusions about the organization. It's there to protect the gun industry. The receive millions from firearm manufacturers. It's about money and power. First and foremost, they are a lobby for the gun industry and they put the needs and desires of the gun industry above all else. No one should ever forget that.

Wrong, actually. The NRA is the tail that wags the dog of the gun industry: when the gun industry tries to embrace things like "smart firearms," for instance, they get the boycott threat from the NRA (say Smith & Wesson wants to make a handgun that only the registered owner can fire. NRA goes out and tells everyone to not buy Smith & Wesson, Smith & Wesson folds).

They are a right-wing, reactionary force which enacts a right-wing, reactionary agenda that happens to have something to do with guns. Much of what they do has nothing to do with guns, and they drive gun owners to try to be more right-wing. They don't represent gun owners, they try to get gun owners to do and think what they say: if you're registered, you get on their mailing list and get all of their propaganda.

The thing is that it wasn't always that way. They used to just basically be a national sportsman's organization, relatively non-partisan, before they became like a political party all their own.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Just another corrupt political lobby, their contributions to education about gun safety is nice though. Also pigeon shoots are "ethical" for cereal?

they are okay, the best major civil rights group in the US. but they compromise on rights to often. if they were more like the Gun Owners of America, i would like them a lot more. i just wish GOA had as much clot as the NRA does.
but without the NRA statist liberals and other socialists would have completely dismantled our human rights by now
