Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I'm 99.99% certain the Zelda Track in Mario Kart 8's DLC will be Hyrule Field! <(^o^<)

Do you agree that it'll be Hyrule Field?

Heck yeah!!! 36 81.82%

After taking another look at this image of the Master Bike, I noticed there's actually a bit of a backround drawn in there aswell, being Hyrule Castle, specifically the one from Twilight Princess, off in the distance, meaning Link here is driving in Hyrule Field. Could this mean that's where the Zelda track will take place? Originally I thought it'd be Skyloft since Link is in his Skyward Sword design as seen here:

Woulda made sense with you being able to glide everywhere, but I feel that would be redundant with Skyloft already appearing in SSB4. But thankfully in addition to Hyrule Field in the artwork, we also have a Hylian Shield on the Master Bike, and the Master Bike itself is shaped like a Horse, neither of which were in Skyward Sword, both of which were in Twilight Princess. Afterall a Horse has always been the best way to traverse Hyrule Field, so it makes perfect sense to have the track be Hyrule Field with a Horse-like vehicle. If the track was going to be Skyloft, I'm sure they woulda made the vehicle after a loftwing. Plus this isn't Skyward Sword DLC, it's Zelda in general DLC, and Hyrule field is way more iconic than anything in Skyward Sword. So with all that said, I'm confident that this is where'll be racing soon!

I'd be down with that or a downhill course of Gerundo Valley

or Skyloft....since you know.........the Link here is based off from that game.

Wait... isn't there supposed to be a whole zelda cup (meaning 4 tracks)?
The November DLC will include two full cups.. one has a yoshi egg logo and the other a triforce logo... I always though the triforce cup will consist of 4 zelda tracks... will this not be the case?

Anyway, I am hoping more for a zelda track set in Termina :)

They're mostly just for selling purposes I think, pretty certain there's only 1 Yoshi themed and 1 Zelda themed track.

There's an Excitebike themed track and an F-Zero Track in the Zelda pack, alongside Yoshi's Island from Double Dash and Wario's Gold Mine from the Wii.

4 Tracks still to be revealed though, 2 new and 2 retro, possible that 2 of the new ones will be Zelda-related.

Yeah but I bet it's just for the artstyle since Twilight Princess's style would clash horribly with the bright and vibrant Mario characters.

Um... The Hylian Shield WAS in Skyward Sword, just saying. It's even in the official artwork for Link.

That said, I wouldn't take any of the artwork that they used (be it from SS or new) too seriously. They're probably going for a "general Zelda" theme rather than focusing on a single title, especially if there's only one Zelda track. And yeah, either way Hyrule Field is the most likely one. I just hope it's based more on the Twilight Princess version of it (dat music) than on the Ocarina of Time one.

Well... that makes no sense! A hylian shield without Hyrule, blasphemy!

The castle in the image is the same as the one from TP, no way that wasn't intentional, so it most likely will be based on it! Altough you're saying not to trust the image, but I don't see why they'd lie about the Master Cycle.

You're thinking too small.

I bet it's going to be a broader design, featuring scenes from various areas of Hyrule. It'll definitely be Hyrule (no Skyloft or anything like that). But I'm picturing a track that passes through the six "sage" locations of Ocarina of Time (or the same location-themes, but as found in TP - but I'm betting on OoT), probably as a single-loop track, starting in Hyrule Castle, then travelling out to Gerudo Valley (probably won't go all of the way to the desert oasis) before running down along the Zora River to Lake Hylia for the first "lap" ending. Then out to Hyrule Field to travel over to Kokiri Forest and the Lost Woods for the second "lap" ending. Then up to Kakariko Village and up Death Mountain before turning back to return to Hyrule Castle to finish.

If done with TP, it probably wouldn't be a loop. Start in Ordon, then past the Sacred Grove before heading over to Kakariko Village for the first "lap" end. Then up Death Mountain, through the Hidden Village, and then via a water path to Zora's Domain for the second "lap" end. Finally, down the Snowpeak and then crossing into the Hyrule Castle area for the ending. Or something like that.

If they're going to include Zelda content in Mario Kart, they need to go all-out, and feature as much Zelda as they can. It's not going to be a bland travel around the relatively-empty field with some distant features in the background.

Fixed! Gotta set my expectations right so I can't be disappointed later! Plus I don't feel 2 minutes 30 seconds would be enough time for all the destinations you listed unless you somehow instantly transition from one area to the next.

I'd think about 3 minutes would be enough. One minute per "lap" would do it. Keep in mind that it doesn't have to be a representation of the scale seen in the actual Zelda games - it can be compressed down fairly neatly. 30 seconds per "zone", in essence.
