The only way WiiU could outsell Gamecube is if.it has a longer.life, and I believe it will as GC had a very short one. But it will be close.

Gamecubed shipped 4.09m in the following year (which will be WiiU's 2015.) So at best it will outsell it 1m~

2016 onwards WiiU will begin to fall like every other Nintendo device has in the 3rd year.

Gamecube shipped 2.58m in the year following that (WiiU's 2016). Given this isn't far off what it did in is first full year (2.8m). It just seems difficult for me to agree WIiU will sell above Gamecube enough to overtake it.

When Nintendo systems start to slow down it seems they literally just free fall, or at least that's what the last few systems have shown.

Also WiiU won't be up YOY in 2015 until it gets a price cut. All the software coming out (Especially in Q1/Q2) is very niche.

I agree with you there, when I say outsell it I mean maybe 2-3 mil at MOST, reason being because I think WiiU will br in the market 2 years longer than GC, Nintento won't release its next console to early to be a lot weaker in specs again, they will wait it out, aldo it has a bit more room for price drops, I believe GC was about half of WiiUs price during the same periods in there life, I could be wrong though.

Considering Nintendo did EVERYTHING wrong regarding the launch of the Wii U, it could have been worse.

Of course, being their worst selling home console yet is already pretty bad.

I think it will beat the Gamecube if Nintendo commit to keeping it alive, but a lot of outlets where the average consumer could get exposed to the Wii U are shunning it completely by now, with Nintendo apparently not giving a shit, so it won't be doing any dashing recovery and produce sales in league with Wii, PS2 or PS4.

sub 20 million lifetime confirmed :(

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

yeah looking like maybe 18m at a push

It's entirely possible.

I'm personally hoping for 30M. That would be a nice number. even if PS4 is 90m, and Xone is 70M.

Wii doesn't even fit in the chart anymore lol

It shows off very well that half of the console sales of the Gamecube where made in the first 2 years and practically stopped selling after that. If the Gamecube had continued selling like it did in the beginning, it would have outsold the original Xbox easely.

That's also why I think comparing their sales to extrapolate the final sales of the Wii U can't work, as the Wii U probably won't stop dead in it's track anytime soon.

ohhh I haven't realize it was that bad!

Xbox actually had really great sales all the way through but its life was cut short, could have hit 30m WW.

WiiU will slow down after next year, just like Gamecube.

WiiU shipped 610k this Q, in the same comparable Q Gamecube shipped 810k. This means the gap increased 200k in Gamecubes favour.

As of this Q it's 7.29m WiiU's shipped vs 10.45m Gamecubes.

Totally wrong.

It's in french, if you don't understand it : wiiU was 2.87 M behind Gc before, now it's 2.34.

No. Look above, I said that chart was confusing, GC launched a Q early in Japan, so you need to compare the last dot for GC with the WiiU one.

Gamecube launched in EU/NA Nov 2001, WIiU launched Nov 2012. End of September of their second full year the stats show 7.29m Vs. 10.45m Gamecube.

Really wish people would stop trying to correct me when I'm not wrong.

Oh well, i will just post this here :

Sorry if i prefer to trust one of the biggest french gaming site than you.

lol you're trusting a french gaming website over official Nintendo figures.

If that's what you wanna do feel free. I'll use the facts tho.

Here you go. Final slide.

Seece, the actual Numbers are the same than yours. What changes is the launch alignement. You are comparing Q9 GC with Q8 Wii U (like ryuzaki57's chart does, hence the additional quartal for the Gamecube on that one), while Gamekult compares Q8 GC with Q8 Wii U. As you can see on the chart, the gap narrows during Q8 due to this alignement.

Yes because Gamecube launched in Japan a few months earlier, that's not an excuse to push back WW Q's to make WiiU look better. At best for a more accurate picture Japan should be analsyed on its own. But NA/EU/Others is the same amount of time.
