What I'm getting from that chart is just how much of a sales monster the Wii was.

No. Look above, I said that chart was confusing, GC launched a Q early in Japan, so you need to compare the last dot for GC with the WiiU one.

Gamecube launched in EU/NA Nov 2001, WIiU launched Nov 2012. End of September of their second full year the stats show 7.29m Vs. 10.45m Gamecube.

Really wish people would stop trying to correct me when I'm not wrong.

Gamecube had 4 solid years. 5th year was a dud as Nintendo were readying their next system.

Do you really see frequent Wii U releases happening in 2017? I think Wii U and Gamecube will have similar lifespans, 2016 will be the Wii U's last year of real support IMO.

Better how? It's inferior in practically every way.


Respective hardware for its time as people have mentioned, but also portfolio wise its absolutely destroys the Wii U.... Its main problem was that PS2 had all the Megatons as exclusives (Metal Gear, FFX, Tekken, GTA) and generally I don't think the secondary console is something many people indulge. It only happened last gen because the wii was soo different and V cheap from the get go.

thats hard. wii u is the worst ninteondo console ever saleswise?
even after the wii success i knew some casuals that went for the new Modell.

but maybe many old hardcore fans moved away.
15m lifeteime sales would be desastrous, but i imho its in reach :O
