WiiU shipped 610k this Q, in the same comparable Q Gamecube shipped 810k. This means the gap increased 200k in Gamecubes favour.

Looking forward the Gamecube shipped 3.45m in the holiday Q.

That's about what Nintendo expect for the entire fiscal year (3.6m) but I am hopeful (as I'm sure many Nintendo fans are too) that it can do around 3m shipped this holiday, up 50% yoy over the 1.95m it did last year.

This still puts it behind even more tho

Next Q will be around 10m WiiU's shipped vs 13.94m Gamecubes.


If WiiU is to overtake/beat Gamecubes 21.74m figure it has a 4m deficit to make up.

CYQ1 2015 Gamecube shipped 630k. WiiU usually does 300k~ in this Q.

Its not looking good for poor old WiiU Hopefully it can ship a few million this holiday, we'll see if Smash can work its magic

The only way WiiU could outsell Gamecube is if.it has a longer.life, and I believe it will as GC had a very short one. But it will be close.

Chart is a little off, given GC launched in Japan a Q early. But yeah, Wii was mammoth!!!

Gamecubed shipped 4.09m in the following year (which will be WiiU's 2015.) So at best it will outsell it 1m~

2016 onwards WiiU will begin to fall like every other Nintendo device has in the 3rd year.

Gamecube shipped 2.58m in the year following that (WiiU's 2016). Given this isn't far off what it did in is first full year (2.8m). It just seems difficult for me to agree WIiU will sell above Gamecube enough to overtake it.

When Nintendo systems start to slow down it seems they literally just free fall, or at least that's what the last few systems have shown.

Also WiiU won't be up YOY in 2015 until it gets a price cut. All the software coming out (Especially in Q1/Q2) is very niche.
