I simply have a hard time coming up with all that many female actors who are genuinely funny and none approaching Murray or Aykroid--though, obviously, almost no men are near that level, either.

What I fear is that they are going to change the concept. Ghostbusters is about a group of intelligent semi-losers who bumble around in a self-depreciating way for most of the film. That the main characters are partial screw-ups who have to struggle to find the resolve to be true heroes is what makes the movie great. Hollywood doesn't really like to portray women that way, however, so I could easily see this being turned into a statement about brilliant women who are fighting against the male establishment, rather than against their own failures. If so, that would make this something other than Ghostbusters. I'd also be surprised if they allowed a female to play a character as goofy as Louis (Rick Moranis).

Those two things--the possibility that the cast won't be that funny and that they'll try to turn it into a feminist statement film--don't leave me very optimistic.

We shall see.

No Melissa McCarthy plz.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

As someone who genuinely feels the over feminisations of todays media is one of the reasons movies today suck... this is the worst possible news I could have heard about one of my favourite franchises.

Those bridesmaid/melissa mcarthy type movies are just not funny, not one bit. How the the hell did the studios thought this would be a good idea.

I agree, those films are horrible. And the bad-assery of women ruins all movies, see Resident Evil...

Even my female friends are sick of this. Only dumb teen girls think this is amusing.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

WOW, the responses here...

So essentially; Women cannot be funny, or poke fun at themselves or appeal to a non-female demographics.

Equally; An all male cast is normal, doesn't even get questioned, it fits the characters, its the default. An all female cast= Feminist Agenda.

I have no hopes of the film being good til I get a good look at the writers and director but still, y'all are evidence for why there needs to be an active push bring gender equality.

Really? Do we have to push gender equality even in GHOSTBUSTERS? Really? Come on man!

Women are great, they are worth the same as men, but, Jesus Christ, are we not diferent? Are genders not unique?

This is just ridiculous. I know there is a Agenda to make humanity think that men and women have no diferences whatsoever, but, come on.

We think diferently, our bodies are diferent, we even feel and see in diferent ways.

Sure, women are even more smart than men and can have the jobs they want, but what is the point of having a SEX IN THE CITY movie with a all male cast?

Or to make a PRETTY MAN movie... Pretty man... walking down the street, pretty man...

Why can´t you see that this is not misoginistic?

It is like saying we are going to make a JOANA D´ARK movie with a male Joana. It is just not a good idea.

Women can be funny, in their own unique way, that is not the issue.

I really think the one gender Agenda is bad to all humanity. Ghostbuster 4 will have transgender people and Ghostbusters 5 will have animal hybrids, how that sound?

You better believe they will not make this movie without that super unfunny actress. Just pray for no Sandra Bullock.

Is this backed by some feminist group? Because I see no point in an all-female ghostbusters team. Its like an all female Ninja Turtles or all female Black Hawk Down or Saving Private Ryan. It just doesnt fit.

OR like an all-male girls club or Bring it on!
Ah well whatever we have a shitty Turles movie with 4 times SHREK being the main character  people just have no respect for legacies and our childhoods.

There is a worldwide Agenda to the pussification of man and bad-assery-zation of women going on for years now. It is getting more and more ridiculous.

I mean, women are awesome. I love them, they can be funny, smart, everything. But, please, do not act like the genders are the same. We are indeed equal, in rights and in valor, but diferent. very diferent.

As I understand, it is already in pre-production.

It will be a funny version, not a porn or anything. Before I was a christian I watched a lot of porn, so I am pretty sure there are like 3 or 4 Ghostbuster porn movies already... Or maybe one with a lot of scenes, I don´t know.

The director of this new reboot is Paul Feig. He is well know for unfunny all female cast comedies with Sandra Bullock and Mellissa Mccharty.

Equality isn't the same as saying everyone is literally the same. Its being able have an all female lead in a popular franchise not specifically targeted at women (sex in the city) and people not going ape shit simply because they are female. Have you seen the cast? Have you read the script? What are people actually critising other then fact that the film features females?

As far as I'm aware they are not having the same characters from the original simply in female skin, if they are then my bad but otherwise much of your sentiment is a miss. Its like saying How can Final Fantasy XIII have a female lead, when XII had a male one? Easily they are not the same characters in each respective entry. Same franchise, different characters... not same characters, different genders.

Criticising the leads or expressing that you don't find any known female actors funny is actually fine. Its more the idea that some males are predespoded to instantly reject the idea that a female is lead in a piece of media they consume.
