I think more people will paint it as a success solely because it used an established IP.
But only a modest success.

Using a popular IP is cheating so it doesn't count. Also because it used that IP it should have sold much better than it did. It's a huge disappointment even though it exceeded the expectations of its publisher -- after all, what do the people who funded the game know about sales expectations?

I'm not saying its cheating, I'm not even saying it should have sold better. I'm saying you put the Zelda IP in anything and its a potential million seller.
Halo Wars selling 2.4 million doesn't mean Xbox users really want RTS games. It just means the Halo IP is popular. However, that was a pretty damn good game.

I wouldn't mind a sequel done in the current Warriors engine. The bland environments in "HyWa" were almost too much to handle, despite the game being reasonably fun to play. Then again, the game was sandwiched between "MK8" and "Bayonetta 2", which are both gorgeous.

At least someone's going to try to spin this into a bad thing. A Wii U game doing well seems to be a blasphemy to some.

I wasn't targeting you. :P
You're right about Halo Wars and that's part of my point. No one would argue that Halo Wars sold poorly because it didn't compare to the success of main entries.

I'd ignore them. But Hyrule Warriors being a modest success doesn't mean much.
The Wii U will have hits even with a modest userbase. Just like Gamecube and N64.

I guess there still seems to be a pervasive mindset that every game must sell massive numbers to be deemed a success.

A sequel on the next Nintendo console? Very good idea. And yeah the extra power will help it. While playing the game I have noticed that not all enemies appear on the screen in a hectic battle.
Hahah yeah, I am sure to come back once the DLC is out. Gives me plenty of time to focus on Smash when it comes out.
