It's quite a reasonable target actually. Accounts for the potential benefit of having the Zelda brand attached, but doesn't assume said brand will somehow leads to countless sales (not that i'd ever imply any developers/publisherwould set unrEasonable sales expectations).

Ho ho, I see what you did there. But wE hAve to be honest, they aren't the worst.

Yes!
The sales in US and EU was above my expectations too.

Glad to hear that.

Pocky Lover Boy!

That's preposterous, I've been told expectations for HW sales should be on-par with traditional Zelda sales. The game's publisher must not understand what kind of game they made and are obviously incorrect about their own expectations.

Furthermore how dare they set their expectations so low that they can be pleased with a measley few hundred thousand sales, don't they know that's not how things are done anymore, don't they know they're supposed to be disappointed with any game that fails to sell several million copies

Disappointing, Bayonetta 2 deserved 1000 times more those sales.

Hopefully Bayo2 will do well from word of mouth and holidays when more fans of the title pick up the console for said title (and Smash). The game definitely has strong WoM factor to it, and I hope we see it have long, beautiful legs with guns on them into the holidays and next year.

Honestly, articles like this only serve to remind how certain posters need to stop posting flop/bomba/etc based on nothing but their own standards. When the developer actually comes out and says their expectations were exceeded, that pretty much invalidates the opinion of anyone who thought it was a failure. I'll take the word of the developer over random forum-members any day. :P

OT: Very glad for this news. I wouldn't mind getting a sequel in the same universe. I can think of a lot of other characters that could benefit from a sequel. I'd love to fight as Byrne, Vaati, Groose, and the unused OOT sages, just to name a few off the top of my head.

While this is good news, anything that has "'exceeds'/'fails to meet' expectations" in the title isn't particularly useful without knowing what they were actually expecting, and the context of those expectations. Similar to how "[x] has sold out" is rather meaningless without knowing how many were on offer.

I think they expected 1M LTD...

Doesn't the article says the target/expectation was 500k? The 1M LTD thing, was something that the Tecmo Koei president hoped for, not the actual target or expectation, simply something they hoped.

COMG guide to points: 1 point = Raging. 2 points = Beasting. 3 points = Tearing it up. 4 points = Berzerk. 7 points = Rampage. 12 points = Burst. 15 points = god mode. 20+ points = DIVIDING BY ZERO!!! 40+ points = Youkai (originally Pokemon).

-1 = Negabeasting. -5= NegaRampage. -10 = NegaBurst

Good to hear.

This is good news, and I did enjoy this game, but I'm not 100% sold on the idea of a sequel. Although I think they could make a pretty cool game that focused on Majora, Wind Waker, and Zelda U (since HyWa focused on Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and Ocarina). I would only want this game though if it came out in like 2016 or something. One of the last games to come out for Wii U.

I meant more in reference to the specific regions they were mentioning, and the time frame :p Though if their LT WW target is 1m, then HW shouldn't have too much of an issue exceeding that.

I laughed. Just saying.
