Bargin bin ... dear lord. $400 to $350 a year after launch is not bargin bin, and I hardly see this hurting MS/XB1 ...

They're devaluing their product by doing constant price cuts and free game giveaways.

A product that is popular and selling well doesn't have price cuts and free game promotions every month. It doesn't need them.

BTW, the Xbox One launched at $500, not $400.

New sku minus kinect, not price cut. Big difference. If I was in the market for an XB1 today I would have to pay $450, that's only $50 less than what I got it at launch. (Because I would want Kinect model).

They're not devaluing, they're becoming competitive. And they're doing it to beat PS4, not because it's selling badly (not that I think it's selling fantastically either).

Some incredible reaching going on in this thread.

They reduced the entry point from $500 at launch to $400 then to $350. HOW is was done does not matter at all.

You may want Kinect but it is not necessary to buy an Xbox One. So if you want a $450 XB1 with Kinect, it doesn't matter. You wouldn't count that as the main model just like you wouldn't count the upcoming COD Advanced Warfare bundle as the main SKU.

So to be clear, Xbox One launched at $500 with a force-bundled Kinect. Sales dropped off a cliff after the holidays so they decided to finally listen to the internet and make Kinect optional. This ended up slashing $100 off the price, making it $400. It's a price cut since the price went down. The Kinect bundle is no longer the main SKU, the Kinectless one is. The Kinect SKU is now considered premium and "added value" for your money. Do you get what I mean?  As a consumer, you would look at this as a price cut. The entry point model is now more affordable.

@bold

I guess that's just my opinion but seeing constant attempts by Microsoft to get people to buy an XB1 doesn't make me want it more. It only further proves to me that I made the right choice with the PS4. Yes, Microsoft is being competitive but they are being "competitive" because they are losing. Also, considering the Xbox 360s position in the last gen, I would say that XB1 is definitely not selling well. Sales are OK in the US but everywhere else they are just awful.

Around the Network

No but i can see them offering a few months of free PS Plus.
