Toukiden Kiwami producer wants to bring the series to consoles

Game's presentation was hampered by PSP.

Toukiden Kiwami producer Takashi Morinaka wants to make the next game in the series on home consoles, he told the latest issue of Famitsu.

Toukiden wasn’t without its fun on the PSP and Vita, but I don’t think it’s going to surprise anyone if I say the game’s presentation was hampered by what the PSP hardware could do,” Morinaka told the magazine. “Knowing that, I want to strive to improve the series on that front, as well as get it developed for home consoles.”

“Basically, I want there to be that ecosystem where you can play the game away from home on your portable system, and then when you get back, keep playing it on your console.

“We’ve definitely gotten a lot requests from overseas players asking that the series come out on consoles, too, so hopefully they keep speaking up in large numbers so we can make this happen.”

Looks like Vita/PS4 releases are going to be a thing for lots of Japanese devs in the future

DO IT

Uhhhh.......How about no.

Look....if the presentation is hampered because of PSP then stop making it for PSP. Focus the next installment solely on Vita (or PSTV for that matter) and unleash the true potential of Vita instead of relying the power of PS4.

I hate when developers jump ships their game into other consoles (yes i'm looking at you Type-0!!)

Surprise... said no-one.

Well Vita, you had a decent run.

The Vita version would still out-sell a PS4 version, probably by a substantial margin, and it could increase popularity for the series.  Sounds like they're after the west.

It's just the lack of confidence for a Vita-only version that worries me.  Same with God Eater.

Games like this grew to popularity by ad-hoc play through handhelds, yet these developers are making home console versions rather than take a gamble on a Vita exclusive (which, imo, wouldn't even be much of a gamble as long as their expectations were 300-400k).

If they're targeting the west, then that's a different story, and something I can stomach I suppose.

I think it's a strategy we're going to have to get used to where publishers are trying to grow certain IP.  Everyone wants the next Monster Hunter and dual Vita/PS4 versions seem like an easy route to gain a bit more exposure.  I don't even know that it's necessarily a lack of confidence in the Vita (in the east) as it is a simple desire for more.  Add to that a justifiable lack of confidence in the Vita (in the west) and it's easy to see why they want the IP on both the Vita and PS4.  It's not a 3DS situation where one version is your best bet in both markets.

I think you know all this, though; you're just letting your heart do the talking.
