Forums - Sales Discussion - Bayonetta 2 doing better than expected in America

Yeah. I walked right into Gamestop last night at around 8:30pm, grabbed a copy and was on my way. I'm not expecting the game to even be in the top 5 in sales but that's okay. Just like with Xenoblade (which I didn't enjoy but then didn't give much of a chance), I GOT MINE and that's all that matters!

NPD numbers will tell the truth either way, so we may as well just wait. I hope it surprises, but I doubt it.

Ancedontally at my Best Buy I'd say it was doing OK. It looked like had sold maybe 3-4 copies on its first day and had another 3-4 left on the shelf and another 5-6 in the back according to the clerk that I asked.

No matter what I think Nintendo should go ahead and greenlight Bayonetta 3 for their next platform (Fusion?). They need to finally invest in an IP for older consumers in the long term, they can't keep abandoning IP aimed at older consumers. Make a long term investment here and try to build an audience.

I live in a small city in Mexico, all the malls were out of stock (went two days after release, silly me). One of ladies told me they only had 5 copies of the game, but a second shipment was expected.

I don't know about this... in my Neighborhood Gamestop there wasn't even one on display behind the counters... I walked in there and I thought they were sold out but that totally wasn't the case... then again Ninty NEVER did good around my neighborhood so take this with a grain of salt... I haven't gone to my nearest Target to see how it's doing there (Ninty games are huge in that area)...

From what I can read here it seems Nintendo didnt ship enough copies to cover the demand outside of the US

I just hope the game sales well enough to get sequel green lighted. Bayonetta 2 is my game of the year so far.
