Theres no doubt the 360's exclusive lineup was hot shit. Exclusive isn't really the Microsoft way I guess...

Its not to say Microsoft hasn't tried. They have, but their new IP development isnt up to snuff when it comes to those hot button AAA titles. I mean they have Crackdown and Fable, but really...those are just fillers. Good games in their own right though. Again...they've tried but they seem to have had an issue creating a AAA title on their own that is a hot seller.

On the one hand I kind of agree with you that there isn't a Naughty dog/Guerrilla Games/Sucker Punch store MS can go shopping at to buy great studies, but on the other hand they really haven't tried AT ALL compared to Sony.

-What about 4A games?  Metro 2033 wasn't on PS3, and they are a smaller studio.

-How about Crytek?  They are in tons of trouble and with some better writers they could make GREAT games.

-There are dozens of Indie studios that were once upon a time friendly with MS that they never bought up and expanded.

MS dug their own grave.  They have had plenty of chances to stockpile a ton of great studios, but instead they pump out the same tired franchises and money hat.

Its funny that you say that, because Sony has worked closest with Sucker Punch and Naughty Dog before they took them in . If you notice Sony has an art style that they've been going for which they spearheaded after they changed around the development style of Naughty Dog after the owners left. Every single one of the companies have the art style Sony owners have become accustomed to viewing. Before buying they are generally in a trial like basis if you haven't noticed (I realized this like a year ago). Of course Sony is a known movie house since the acquisition of Columbia house pictures so the games have followed suit in it story telling style. I remember reading up on the partnership with Naughty Dog. Sony always wanted a to have games with a pixar like feel, which is why they were always so close with Naughty Dog, Insomniac and Sucker Punch. I saw a doc video some time ago about it. Very interesting stuff.

MS has bought studios before, but Sony tests out studios before they purchase them. They don't just buy people they don't trust. Again...this brings us back to the fact that Sony has made sure their games have a specific art style which represents them under their banner. MS still has yet to find one. I really wish Sony would stop trying to be like Nintendo as well and just be Sony. This is where they've always been at their best.

To further bolster this point as I said before, Sony is known for helping devs develop games from Flower, Demon Souls, to Journey. Demon Souls would've been another Kings Field without Sony Japan helping.

Also, Sony Japan, Polyphony, andSony Santamonica are a testament to Sony's internal prowess from the start. Once they worked with other companies and expanded they were a force to be reckoned with.

I mean what your saying right now really doesn't oppose anything I said.  Of course Sony tried the studios out first!  MS could have worked closely with the studios I mentioned over time, but they never did.

Not reading the whole thread, but how do you see that MS is actually the only manufacturer, that still releases exclusive titles, even it is a year older than the competition?

Forza Horizon 2
Fable Anniversary
Titanfall
Project Spark

were all released this year... that is mindblowing for a console in its 10th year.

All great games, but its like he expect Microsoft to let the 360 outshine the Xbox One. No....its not happening.

I wasn't opposing you. What you said just made me think so I added. I thank you for that. I like when people make me further expand my thought process or recollect things I once wasnt thinking about.

On your point though about MS doing what Sony does, Sony already had a vision fro the start and had created companies to brainstorm that vision. As I said, Sony Santamonica, Polyphony, Sony Japan (Team ICO) which are core teams as well as others. Microsoft never had success with that that from even the start, so they were lost until they bought Rare. Now in essence Rares purchase was much like Naughty Dogs, but the difference is the quality of management overall. Internally speaking, if MS doesn't initially invest themselves in being creative (themselves, not financially investing in it), how could they help outside companies (let alone stand out to, espceially in countries like Japan)? Sony invested in being creative well before they bought all of those companies and steered them into the future. Thats Microsofts greatest issue in and of itself.  Anyone who represents their initiative or can become a projection of it tend to become partners.

Did you read the post? I'm talking about 2013 prior to the Xbone Launch.

More like it's last 3 years. Even 2014 PS3 got a good few exclusives. Sony know how to support a console.

The only PS3 exclusive I can think of that Sony are releasing this year is LBP. 1 =/= a good few.

MLB os another. It got a lot from Japenese devs. MS if they supported Japan like theu did at the start would have paid those devs to pot them. I know it's not worth it for them but neither was buying the exclusives in the early days in japan.

It would have never paid off. Even games like Idolm@ster, despite doing great numbers on 360, ended up going to Ps3 due to demand.

MS got left companies that only needed a small but strong fanbase, like Cave, who did a bunch of exclusive shumps, or Itagaki, who had a soft spot for Xbox.

This is why I will never buy an Xbox.MS never supports their console for the entire generation. The same thing happened with the Xbox and that had a short life span. With Sony I always know I will get games every year of the consoles life once it get's going.

Do you have Vita? Is it Nintendo or Microsoft?

OG Xbox was dropped because it was hemorraging money. It was not viable for MS to  continue supporting a console that gamers barely adopted.

PS3's early life must've had an abundance of titles ain't it?

So you're telling me the company with Infinite Money couldn't support a console just because it was hemorraging money?

I guess thats the difference between fans of Xbox and fans of Microsoft Xbox.

"Just because it was hemorraging money?"

Look where MS is financially every quarter compared to the main competition.

One always make rational decisions and the other not so much. I guess Sony learned starting with PSP GO, they dropped that like a soap in prison.

shite is still shite regardless of who makes it.

Why should I give a flying fuck about MS's finacials every quarter as a gamer? Just because a decision is rational doesn't mean its beneficial to me as a consumer, I don't work for Microsoft, why should I care about how much money they make. Especially, when they can't even put that money into supporting a product I paid for.

Oh boo hoo, XB cost them a billion dollars, doesn't MS make close to around that annually? Oh, please. If the investors get cranky distract them with Windows sales or something.

Hell, they can't even support the 9th year of the 1# US console of last gen, why should I expect any different this gen. Oh sure they are trying now, but if you really believe they are gonna keep this "in it to win it" charade after 2015, you're in for a r00d awakening. God help US if they close the Gap in the US, cause they'd probably take it easy sooner.

Seriously, its like a bad joke or something, I'm supposed to buy doing anything to stay competitive when they've quit so many times before.

But I guess that's the difference between Xbox fans and Microsoft Xbox fans.
