Well it's also important for them to maintain the marketshare. Especially now at the start of the gen. Friends buying what there friends have is the biggest selling point you can have. That's also what will help Sony this holiday + hopefully a $399 with a game bundle.

I would not call this desperate. Microsoft just made billions of dollars in just one quarter and they can afford to take these measures for remaining competitive. Good on them. They mean business. Conversely if they were losing billions and had to do this then we could call them desparate.

But they so easily can, slap Infamous and TLOs as a free download onto one of their Bundles.  Or just do as in Europe offer 3 first party games.

Of course, not sure they can make that investment. We'll see in their financial results (when are they due btw?) but I'd rather have them with lower marketshare and smaller snowball effect, than Sony divions including PlayStation getting a spin off or being bought by another company.

Actually I can think off a couple companies I would be cool with, if they bought PlayStation new big stream of money in the industry would be nice

I love the video where they proudly announce their "best ever price for the Xbox One"

Anyway, interesting move. I don't know if Sony will slash the price, but I think they'll definitely be throwing in some free games, particularly LBP and Drive Club. Maybe they'll keep the Destiny bundle going, but slightly cheaper?

imagine the sales drop after two months of temporary pricecut + christmas season.
i guess it won't be long into the new year until MS makes this a permanent pricecut. at least they should.
