Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why is PS4 still outselling the X1 in America?

BMaker11 said:
Because America doesn't have loyalty. One gen, it was Nintendo land (NES, SNES), then it was PS land (PS1, PS2), then it was Xbox land (360). Just because Xbox had America last gen doesn't mean it'll have it this gen.

XBL isn't vastly superior to PSN anymore, so multiplayer FPS is just as good on PS4. Yea, there's the Halo MCC, but those are just old games. Not enough flip the table on PS. You really think the XBone should get America because it's getting games from a decade ago?

Coupled with the fact that the PS4 being the more popular console = domino effect. Because friends will get the consoles most of their friends are on. And then all the other little things, like better multiplats. This all adds up to XBone losing in America.

If you "don't understand" that, then you're just pulling the wool over your own eyes

Because of PS+ & we have new update Share play.

The third system videogame console has always struggled in the U.S. N64,Saturn,ps3,Xbox one.

+ Better console
+ Better OS
+ More games (and metacritic better)
+ More gaming features
+ More friends playing it

About the games you listed:

Sunset Overdrive = LittleBigPlane 3
Forza Horizon 2 = DriveClub
Halo Remaster = TLOU Remaster

I don't see difference between the lineup unless you like more Halo or TLOU... it is pretty equal.

In multiplataforms PS4 have the edge.

2015 = Only PS4 releases until late of the year... Xbone is lacking games for at least six months.

The best question is...

I need the Xbone? For what? What it add to my gaming life? If you say there is one of the exlcusives you want the play then you are with the guys that buy Xbones every week... if not you are with the guys that buy PS4 every week... the issue is that less guys things Xbone is worty of buy than PS4.

Enough said.

However, that's surprising that americans finally see the better console ...

It's the 3rd-console-curse!

PS4 got labelled the "right" console to buy early on due to being $100 cheaper on day 1 and more powerful (thus having better multiplats on certain games). MS hasn't done much to shake that perception, if they want things to shift they need to start buying more exclusives and attacking Sony more in their ads IMO, like Sega used to do to Nintendo in the 16-bit wars.

Americans always choice the overall better console... they are the less loyalty consumers in the world.

+ PS2 have a huge list of exclusives (no console will ever had it again) that couldn't be missed (like GTA, MGS, etc)
+ Wii have the best games and features until 2009... Americans changed their mind when Nintendo and Thirds dropped the supports and changed to 360 (that was better in Multiplataforms while PS3 had issues yet)

I can go back but they choices seems reasonables.

I can't seem to understand this. America has always been an FPS land and Xbox One is the place for it they are releasing a Halo Remaster collection in a few weeks, a COD bundle with exclusive content. And no offense to the PS4 but what good AAA games is releasing for it?  Xbox got Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, Halo Remaster for this fall, and they got Quantum Break in the spring. The ps4 has Driveclub in the fall, and The Order in the spring. So, as for as exclusive games go the Xbox One is the king. Also the X1 is 400$ now in America same as PS4 so I would expect better sales for X1.

Why do you think the PS4 is still outselling the X1?   Do you think that exclusive games are no longer the deciding factor and perhaps media bias may have a big role in all of this.

I am so confused why people are confused by this.  The PS4 is winning everywhere because:

-It is twice as strong

-It has more games

-It is better in nearly every way

Why in the hell would it not be winning?  Brand loyalty is 90% a myth.  People buy what they think is best.

Let's also not forget the "word of mouth" factor.

The more people buy PS4's, the more people will say to their friends that they like the PS4. Free advertisment, basically.

Another direct result of this: People will buy whatever console their friends have. It's just a snowball effect at this point.

Very true.  This is a MASSIVE factor.  Not to mention that the "word of mouth" on the internet is massively biased towards the PS4 right now.  Almost every gameplay demo is done on PS4's at this point, and anyone who googles a comparison of the councils will likely be told to get a PS4.
