Forums - Gaming Discussion - Ars Technica: Ps4 only sold 560k units from August to September WW, Uses Pachter logic to inflate Xbone sales!

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2014/10/analysis-worldwide-ps4-sales-at-least-40-percent-better-than-xbox-one/

Why create an article with obviously incomplete data and assume the best through Pachter's fail logic? haha

Around the Network

Their PS4's number doesn't make any sense...it probably at ~12 millions at end of september

xone number seems in line though.....

this was posted and locked already lol

Because bullshit has a bigger probability of working when people who leak NPD stop leaking NPD. We'll get much much more of this. It's an out and out lie and the writer knows it. Don't be fooled into believing the writer is just an idiot. The leakers have been giving us NPD for years and years and suddenly they stop leaking, MS no longer give out their NPD numbers and sites like this are trying to make people believe the gap is much smaller than it is. If it's not a coincidence it's a damned lucky break for MS.

We'll get more and more of these sites trying to push this narrative in the hope it hits the streets. Like I said before, part of being successful is creating the perception that you ARE successful.

Both numbers are wrong...

If you read the article they say they are using the best (ceiling) possible estimate for Xbone and the worst (floor) possible estimate to PS4.

Its wrong. We established this

It's not outright BS, just misleading. But if the are going to use max and min numbers they should have done both max&min on each console. Or atleast be consistent, using max on one and min on the other is just silly.

Why do they do that ?

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

PS4 selling 560k over a 2-month period? Well, it sold about that number in a single week thanks to Destiny...

Not sure how they came to that conclusion.

I don't know... maybe to try to show that Xbone is not doing that bad compared with PS4.

If they do the celling or floor for both I guess it will be more "reasonable".
