Probably do is a smaller fashion, Sony really does not have to but im sure they do. While MS has to do everything possible to compete, even if they have to pay people to say nice things about their products.
MS putting this game in the hands of a bunch of critics and allowing them to discuss it shows they're confident about SO.
It should review well.

No youtuber was paid to say nice things about Sunset Overdrive. This guy explains what MS did for him.
They flew The Creatures to Gamescon to play the game and also gave Achievement Hunter the game early smart moves by MS.

A game like Smash Bros doesn't need this kind of marketing. That's a big reason people want a Wii U.
This kind of marketing is best for games that are new IPs are not as established like Bayonetta 2.

Certainly a good move to push some extra copies. Since all of his videos are guaranteed to attract tens of millions of views. However, there needs to be disclosure about the situation, otherwise there may be legal issues involved.
Can't help but be reminded of XB1M13 in that regard.

Freebies is one form of payment. Not that i care if they do or not, but lets not pretand their deal with machinima that was paying people to talk nice about their products did not exist. This is just an evolution of that. Gaming is so much on the pay its becoming a necessity to buy a game to try it as no opinion anywhere is to be trusted anymore.
Smart move by Microsoft. I still don't get why Pewdiepie is so popular though.
That's a pretty smart move, since visibility seems to be this game's biggest problem at the moment.
How is that news? Youtubers get preview copies all the time. Certainly no surprise for the most popular one to get a copy. I'm sure a lot of other people got it as well.
