Forums - Sales Discussion - XBO and PS4 are selling upwards of 50K units combined a week in the UK at the moment

From MCV's latest issue

In the article called "Xbox One vs PS4 price war erupts on the high street"
1) Xbox One's performance has steadily improved since the cut to £330, with most consoles including free games such as FIFA 15 and Forza Horizon 2
2) PS4 still stays ahead, stretching its lead over One
3) Xbox One and PS4 are selling upwards of 50,000 units combined a week in the UK at the moment

Xbox 360 is at almost 9 millions units sold, second only to PS2 sales-wise, in the home console space

Not possible. Unless by "at the moment" they mean Destiny or FIFA weeks.

It is getting closer to the holidays and each console has pretty good deals going on. How is it not possible? It even mentions that the One is doing better than before thanks to the price drop.

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

My brain missed the combined bit and my jaw dropped.

Good stuff tho, we're massively undertracking then.

X360 3,836 (-0%) 8,929,708

Great tracking for Xbox 360!

I dont see that as being possible. Maybe it means on average.

Over 1.8 Million consoles sold in ~45 Weeks would equal something between 40,000 and 50,000 consoles per week on average, without doing the maths.

The UK is not a big enough market to sell 50k a week regularly, even in October. That's like selling 300k a week in the US. A couple of weeks yes, probably what they referred to (if the article exists at all because I couldn't find it. Maybe print?). Consistently, no.

That would explain some of the undertracking going on for XBO/PS4. Good find.  Hopefully ioi sees and makes udjustments accordingly

"Selling at the moment" sounds like it's been a trend. It's not possible. The guy who quoted the article F'd up or the article is wrong or easy to misinterpret. FIFA and Destiny weeks yeah, not other weeks.

I would assume this was taken from MCV's magazine. In the UK, the One just recently got a price drop and there is a bundle for Fifa. Would be doing better than before, regardless of what US sales might be.
