They're not that bad and it's a one time thing. The only ones complaining about it are Sony fans IMO

That's not true. Lots of people are complaining a lot about the long install times.

Thats pretty much BS though.

What!? Ö

Need For Speed Rivals:
XBO: 09:25
PS4: 00:32

Just Dance 2014:
XBO: 08:48
PS4: 00:45

NBA Live 14:
XBO: 16:26
PS4: 00:35

FIFA 14:
XBO: 16:06
PS4: 00:34

Madden 25:
XBO: 9:38
PS4: 00:38

A quick search will show you a lot of complaints about the excessive install times on Xbox One. Eg. DR3, Ryse, COD Ghosts, Shadow of Mordor, etc.

It gets even worse if the console is connected to the internet and you want to install the updates.

Have Kowencki and Toastboy seen this? For Xbox fans they seem to not know their console very well...

XONE install times being so slow compared to the PS4, it's as weird as the fact that the PS4 still doesn't have Suspend/Resume. I just don't understand it.

he said parity! :D

Yeah... Ms will pay for games to load slower in ps4, COMFIRMED!

Lol I kid...

I am still confused, how does being a always online console has to do with install times from a disc? Isn't xbox, as the ps4, always connected to the Internet if its in the stand-by mode? Being online does not speed the install time on xbox so the argument is just a excuse.

I think that is exactly how it works. On the Vita I can put it in standby mode while playing or after pausing a game, the game will continue from where I left off. The feature is much more useful on a handheld due to its pick up and play nature but even on home consoles there are plenty of situations where you are far away from a checkpoint and you need to stop playing for sometime, it is great for cases like that.

If they implement it such that the game state is saved to the hard drive instead of RAM, it would be even better since you can completely turn off the console and still continue playing. I doubt it though.

Best thing about this feature on the vita is how it kicks in when the battery is at critical lvl so your game is safe til you get it to a charging point.... just happened with me miles down digging in MC so I'm pretty damn happy it's there, woulda lost a lot of digging progress.

Also considering that the saves are also uploaded to servers, it is difficult to lose progress these days :).

I love how certain people scarpered as soon as the facts in relation to the load times were presented! Fly you fools!!

so does the xbox one.

It staggers me how little ps4 owners know about the xbox one and yet spout it anyway.

Yeap... both do that but what Xbone oweners complain and what Phill is saying is that Xbone even doing that is ridiculoous slow compared with PS4.

90% of the Xbone games have install times over 5x worst than SP4.

And it is software fault from MS.

which they will fix.

whats the problem?

PS4 fans dont sem to mind waiting for dlna (promised by cuddly yosh over a year ago) and suspend resume (reveal feature), so I dont mind waiting for this.

Yes because adding features and improving feautres is the same

Aye the saves get uploaded with psn+ but Vitas Minecraft doesn't save on the fly like the PC game, you set up an auto save time for it either every 15/30 mins of play since it takes about 5-10 secs to save the changes to the landscape, could definately risk losing up to half an hour of play time if the Vita used the same power method the 3DS uses (Green>red>flashingred>tears).

Because that kind of practice is common among people who want to assure themselves and/or others that they aren't heavily biased. "See, reason X, Y and Z are why I chose PlayStation over Xbox/Nintendo."

One very regular complaint last generation was that Xbox Live Gold has a subscription fee, so about every two to three months there was a thread about that topic. These longwinded threads to complain have disappeared since Sony introduced their own online multiplayer paywall, so it's clear that the people who complained the most about Microsoft's paywall were Sony fans, even though they didn't own an Xbox and had no intentions to own one.

I guess the bottom line is that you don't understand because you aren't so biased that you have to spout nonsense to feel better about yourself.

What an amazing paragraph, this should be nailed to some peoples heads.

I think the key difference is that Playstation Plus had value in their online service with the tons of free games that they offered monthy.  XBOX Live was 50 dollars at the beginning without any sort of value like we see today.  Even when they increased it to 60 dollars, what value did they add to XBOX Live?  When Microsoft introduced Games with Gold, consumers finally saw that their 60 dollar purchase was justified.

But spin it how you want it.  The only people that were complaining about the subscription fee were Sony fans....right.....

Realistically for me paying 50euros a year for XBL wasn't too bad since I made a lot of use of youtube on the system in the sitting room, don't think I ever whined too much about paying for it considering I'm used to paying a sub having played wow since Vanilla til today.... but anyways I disagree with you, being given games like Gears of War 1 or Halo3 really did not increase XBL's value to be equal to that of what psn+ offers imo so the threads would still be in place if it was Xbox live gold members complaining about having to pay the fee... I say "having to" been busy a while now and not had gold in a few months so it's not like Xbox owners don't have the option of not paying for gold if they have issues with it or time to make use of the sub.

There is no spin to be had here, those threads about paying for Gold still existed long after games with gold was introduced anyway.

I guess since I download almost all of my games, this has never been an issue for me. My first game was Dead Rising 3 on disc, and it took a long time, mostly because I had to download the large update before the game was installing.

What MS should do in order to clarify these install times, is actually let the user know when it's installing versus when it's downloading an update. If you go to play the MCC and you have that 20GB update or whatever, it's all going to look like one big long install time when actually it downloads the update first.

DR3 also lets you start playing rather quickly during installation, so that alleviated the issue quite a bit.

Yeah.  It's a Microsoft thread and the OP was about how Microsoft recognizes the problem.  The times are ridiculous.  It's no secret that the PS4 has muuuuuuch shorter install times than the Xbox One.

I don't know why some Xbox guys were even attempting to defend it.  At the same time, I don't know why so many Playstation fans flocked towards the thread as well.  To gloat, I guess.
