Forums - Sony Discussion - Bloomber article: Sony Shareholders Have Too Much Patience

Wow the amount of people being so sensitive to Sony's current event is almost entertaining. Seriously I am amazed people are defending Sony choices over the last decade, including the ps3.

(PS: To those who are constantly bringing up Microsoft, Microsoft is a different company, in a different part of the world, who has a huge focus on having a large audience and actually trying to create a eco-system. I don't like Microsoft, you can ask Kowen or Seece that any day, but it is pointless to compare a really sucessful company such as microsoft with sony.)

This is why I own Microsoft shares. Xbox is always profitable. Windows is always profitable, surface breaks even, Microsoft is the king of innovators unlike Sony.

Microsoft lost about 3 Billion $ in 10 years in the market because of Xbox. Try again, but a bit harder, please.

source please.

you did not understand the first article, but neither did Dualshockers themselves, so I don't blame you.

The second article misses 2 years of proifit, mainly due to Xbox and includes losses made with Windows Phone, Zune, Kin and Nokia payments.

I use common sense. It's even faster.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Regardless, the brand is still losing money overall. Whether the X1 can bring it to the black? Maybe... It largely depends on how well it sells on the long term because the 360 is the one that is way more profitable now, but its sales are diminishing.

So if sony goes down what will happen to playstation? Serious question.

Right now Sony is under protection from being bought out so PlayStation should be ok until then. However if this passes they will be vulnerable to takeover. If this happens then whoever takes over Sony would be able to do whatever they want to it, including selling PlayStation, Sony Worldwide Studios, Sony Financial etc. At least this is how it usually works in theory. With Japan itself practically owning Sony though it might not work like that.

With big companies buying into gaming related stuff left and right in the last years (oculus, twitch, mojang), something like playstation could sure be sold for quite some money in no time. And that's probably why some managers/investors/reporters are mad because it would be easy money.

No you didn't, common sense is a rare superpower and, as Aura7541 said, "the brand is still losing money overall"

Anyone with common sense would know that, but you didn't.

You sound so sensitive to the people who are sensitive! There are people briniging SOny up over in the MS financial thread. Now off you go over there and tell them off for the same reason!

BTW most Sony fans don't approve of everything they've done but a lot of it is out of Sony's hands. If they'd been based in the US (or a number of other countries) and MS based in Japan both countries fortunes would be a lot different. The Yen is killing Sony the last few years.

The discussion should be on Sony in this thread.

While the yen didn't help. Sony decline has a lot more to do with how certain devisions are handled. Sorry but the Television, Gaming (PS3), Mobile, Music Devices and Laptops were all in the hands of sony management.

Also if I ever bother to care about Microsoft Financial Thread, I would.

I do care for sony (Gaming), but the management of the company is horrible.

OK, Bloomber.

really?  the weak yen has saved sony in the last two years actually.  you aren't up to date.

but the long term negative effect it's had vs the few years positive don't match up.
