Forums - Sony Discussion - Bloomber article: Sony Shareholders Have Too Much Patience

Really? So if shareholders say enough is enough then it's OK? If they had limited money to throw away (they've thrown a lot on the Xbox so far) then their would be no rumblings behind the scenes of it's lack of performance. Do you think they will be happy with MS getting whipped this gen and potentially getting whipped next gen too? I doubt it but if say they've unlimited resources to lose without caring then sure you must be right!

This always makes me smile.

Both companies have shareholders that have opinions.

One company bas $100bn in cash, one doesnt.

One company has a stock that has risen over 30% in a year and pays large dividends

One company has a stock that is down over 12 months (in a rising market) and doesnt even pay a dividend now.

Which shareholders are happiest or likely to be more patient?

you're missing the point. Obviously over all MS shareholders will be happier. But if they have a division resulting in them receiving less of a dividend then they won't.

If MS never launched the Xbox they'd have more money. They could have invest those billions into something else. Now compare that to sony shareholders. They are over the moon with the PS4 because for a 3rd time out of 4 attempts it's stomping all over the competition.

My response to you smiling?

Don't be mean, he knows it and it hurts. Respect the other people feelings.

PS.: Before anyone gets mad, it's just to make this thread a little less aggressive. Come on guys!

Moderated,

Not being mean just brutally honest. He said in another thread that some companies could learn from MS in the smartphone business (yeah i'm sure the likes of apple will be asking for advice!) but he'd never accept that some companies *cough* could learn a lot from sony when it comes to shipping harware numbers. Anyway the reason I'm saying this is because he'll gladly say 1 thing for 1 company and not for another. A tad bit hypicritical.

Edit: He'll prob report this and i'll be banned for a week. Good thing I'm off on holidays :) See ya next week!

he said "sony shareholders are over the moon"... and you picked that point up.

lmao

yeah i said over the moon in relation to their gaming console unlike MS shareholders (obviously). Don't nit pick him if you're going to do the same.

Perhaps...What has the PS4 to do with this?  This discussion came about because we were talking about Bluray.  Do you think BluRay has been worth it?  I'd say not even close to worth it.  The royaties are now a pittance and the losses incurred in R&D and the trojan of the PS3 are off the scale.

But regarding the PS4. Sure, shareholders will be happy the ps4 is doing well but that is massively overshadowed by the poor perfortmance elsewhere, the crapy stock performance and the withdrawal of dividends. Overall.... very very unhappy.

Whereas perhaps some MS shareholders will be unhappy at Xbox one but that is massively overshadowed by the huge success elsewhere, the exclennet performance of the stock price and the dividend.  Overall.... very very happy.

To answer the first part, the PS4 has nothing to do with this excpet me pointing out your hypocritical logic. You said Blu Ray wasn't worth ti ( I don't know id it was) but what I did say was the if Blu Ray wasn't worth it then neither was Xbox for MS. That's what I said.

To answer the bolded part. That's basically what I was saying and you were for some reason trying to disagree with me. Now that we agree I'll just disappear off with the rainbow like the little leprechaun I am. See ya!

Totally agreeing with you on that one and we both are probably reported. But hey, I've got some new games and a big backlog so I can work on that a litle bit.

"Dont take me on in this...."

"Emotional?  lol.  get a grip pal."

From your posts. Pretty aggressive overall with anyone.

i'd love to see someone work out the finacials of MS and Sony if both swapped companies since the day they set up. I'd imagine SOny doing a lot better and MS doing a lot worse. People always forget a bit of luck and being in the right place at the right time plays a huge factor.

This is why I own Microsoft shares. Xbox is always profitable. Windows is always profitable, surface breaks even, Microsoft is the king of innovators unlike Sony.

Microsoft lost about 3 Billion $ in 10 years in the market because of Xbox. Try again, but a bit harder, please.

source please.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
