sweetoothj said: How about we wait for the holidays? Xbox one will have huge advertisement, huge 3rd party games like COD, great exclusive games like MCC and a lot of bundles. Microsoft's game plan always involved pushing consoles during the holidays. |
They have always had Hugh advertisement and exclusive deals, gave away free games gad three price drops and still lost in sales to the ps4
Ps4 will have cod also, exclusive content for games, bundles and will crush the xbone like it has been all year round
Xbox is selling poorly, why wait for xmas....it's not going to save anything

50 million seems too bold for me. Where would most of the sales come from? Maybe XBO can sell 10M accross the world, but 40M in US alone? Idk, tooooo bold.
My bet is between 30-40M at best.
I think the system is doing well, all things considered. I can see it doing around 45-50m LT

It was outpacing the PS2, but only because PS2 was out in Japan only for 8 months.

Good thread, everytime i read that, i want to say that.
We can say for sure that X360 second year > X1 second year

No they didn't. That was media spin. Kutaragi said, essentially, the PS3 was so good, you would want to work harder to get enough money to get it quickly. Very different than "you should get two jobs to buy a PS3".
It's pure PR, but he was saying that the PS3 is such a good product, you, the consumer, would want to work more hours to pay for it. My example, for comparison, is that I wanted to go overseas this year on a guided tour. It cost $1500, but it had so much involved that I wanted to work many, many hours of overtime in order get enough money to pay for it. It was so appealing that I took it upon myself to go the extra mile in order to afford it, because I perceived it to have that value. Very different from "you want this trip? You're gonna have to work 100 hours a week to afford it"

Ignoring the sensationalism of the article, his exact words regarding the value of the PS3 were "for consumers to think to themselves 'I will work more hours to buy one'. We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else."
It's true that we should be consistent. If PS3 sales were bad at that point in time and X1 is doing worse then it should not be considered better.
If 40-50m this gen is considered well then 80m+ must be phenomenal.

Only 10 million outside the US? If MS stays competitive they should be able to do better than that.

Unless they dont sell 30M in the US, with PS4 taking more and more market share there.
