Forums - Gaming Discussion - IGN: Xbox One could hit its stride in 2015

IGNorant.

This "article" looks like a fanboy article from a random blog.
And it's annoying to see the same excuse again and again "but, but ps3 did a comeback !".

The real question is whether or not Sony can build up enough momentum to make all those things not matter by the end of 2015.  If during the first half of the year Sony can get the PS4 to outsell the X1 at a 4:1 or even 3:1 ratio, no matter of marketing will matter anymore when there are 25m PS4's and 10m X1's.

Also let's not forget Uncharted 4...

One of the winning key to make Xbox One success is none other to make other competitor failed, or stay low and build strategy for the next gen console. No exclusive games will make Xbox one wining in this generation, not even lower price, crazy advertising or other stunt move to perform.

Even if they trying to become "the current gen of PS3" they will failed. PlayStation brand is big out there, and Xbox is the challenger in Video game Industry.

They could win off course by stay focusing with what they did in the early days of Xbox 360, but guess what, they turned down there own strategy in the past and loose focus on the end. They were under estimated the beast, they forgot that they are the challenger in this industry, they just realized, to win the war, they need more then just winning on the first or the second year, they need to build there own first party, they need to build trust by building the armies of fanboys, and loyal consumer, they need to choose and focus what market they after for.

Sony is the winner on this generation, it's hard if the Beast already on the ring, it's already checkmate. PlayStation can counter every movement with Xbox, even if they to try PS3 strategy, they already planned for that. Xbox has realized that they actually the one who need brand trust not the other way around.

But fear not. If you are looking for a good console, Xbox one is full of promise, they may not even defeat PS4 (in terms of sales, exclusivity and graphic), Microsoft almost has infinite money, they will have some good exclusive in the future and gamers who is truly gamers will enjoy it, buy the console no matter what.

Pretty much.  IT. IS.  OVER.  At this point the perception is already there that the X1 is the inferior console.  The only way I could see them competing at all long term is if they can really manage to drop the price fast.  A $300 X1 needs to happen now, and they better be ready to drop to $200 when the PS4 is $300.

They are missing a huge piece. The market has moved to PS4, and it is snowballing. Also they left out the point about multiplats being the key and the PS4 has the best version of each of those.

This is the problem with the Xbox one. The mindset is with the PS4, the kids and their friends are getting the PS4. Besides, Halo 5 they have nothing that will blow the PS4 out of the water for that week/month.

I can see  the xbox one getting an official price drop to 300 dollars next E3.

What's weird in this gen is how quick the media are here to defend the xbox and MS , last gen Sony and their fans ate and ealt with so much sh!t and there were no articles like this to cool the flames

Xbox One sales are steadily outpacing the Xbox 360's nearly a year into their respective races.

Hasn't it been tracking well below the 360 during 2014?

Yes.

Considerign the Xbox 360 was still supply constrained at this time in it's lifecycle and the Xbox one is freely avaialble....  That just means the gap would be wider.

This needs to be analyzed and better understood.  We all know the 360 was in short supply at launch,  but does the second chart indicate that sales for X1 are super front loaded?

This reads like low-quality forum fanboy drivel with absolutely zero analytical quality and heaps of delusion.

I can only hope (?) that IGN were paid well to put this out there.

IGN is Microsoft's only real channel to reach the most amount of people. Instead of respecting what consumers have done, the Xbox is ro be held up and comforted.  This is nit what the PS3 received and is sure as hell not what Nintendo recieved during IGN's onslaught of doom articles.  Same goes for the Vita.  If Nintendo and Sony are responsible for their own performance,  than so too is Microsoft.

I like the comparison to the previous generation. What the author doesn't grasp is that the PS3 wasn't outsold by the 360 by a margin as huge as the One is being outsold by the PS4. Plus the eventual parity in sales did cost Sony so much money that they never saw a return from the PS3.

Basically, Microsoft in the same position as Sony last generation: Doomed to failure. They can either accept that they will finish in a distant second place and at best make profits of a magnitude that still call the entire Xbox endeavor in question, or they can buy marketshare like mad and never see a single cent in return.

Option B plz

I like this article.

If not 2015, then never.
