Forums - Gaming Discussion - IGN: Xbox One could hit its stride in 2015

Funny how some of these "articles" could be written by the common xbox fanboy as wet dreams :-/

or it was submitted to them directly by the MS PR machine?

This is almost funny, maybe in the US there is a chance, but given how it went when Destiny released last month, I just don't see the XB1 catching up, it will probably even loose pace FAST after the holiday period, and they have a serious drought of interesting/relevant titles until holiday 2015! (compared to the PS4, which is already leading, and has the better multi-platform versions of the two).

Anyway, he should probably write love letter to Phil while he is at it.

I hate it when people try and say that the Xbox One is outpacing the 360. It's not, it launched better but has since fallen on it's face.

Up to October 7th the Xbox 360 had sold 3.66 million consoles in 2006. The Xbox One as of October 4th has sold 2.85 million consoles in 2014.

A gap of more than 800K consoles. The Xbox One will need to sell nearly 4 million consoles between now and the end of the year to make up that gap by the end of the year.

IGN stahhp

but but... September was well and it caught up to some of the pace it lost...

seriously, you are 100% right, but I think this "journalist' is still hung up on the pre-titanfall MS talking points, really sad to see, I wonder if there will be a melt-down at some point.

MoHasanie NPD said Destiny sold better on X1 compared to PS4 if you don't include copies sold with the Destiny bundle.

ltd i wonder if that still holds true... anyways usually amazon is very accurate with determining overall sales leaders as their charts usually go in the same direction/trend as other stores bestsellers, cause their ps4 single is ahead of destinys xone singles(always has been for yearly best sellers, not hourly),.... also that would mean vgcharts is way off LTD(even for them) in favor of sonys destiny single figures over xones by almost 1.5M... i would also think that the xone single would have to sell so incredibly well in the u.s to make up for typical poor overall europe xone sales. color me shocked

I don't think it will. I think it will sell less next year than in it's first year.

The PS5 Exists.

Seems the XB1 has changed it's trend in September.  Good job XB1.

Meh, as long MS keeps putting out good games and gets competitive with price they should obtain a good size market share.

This is why Sony still makes a serious effort to compete and spends tons on marketing. Xbox is still taking potential PS4 sales, its still a serious competitor.

One of the winning key to make Xbox One success is none other to make other competitor failed, or stay low and build strategy for the next gen console. No exclusive games will make Xbox one wining in this generation, not even lower price, crazy advertising or other stunt move to perform.

Even if they trying to become "the current gen of PS3" they will failed. PlayStation brand is big out there, and Xbox is the challenger in Video game Industry.

They could win off course by stay focusing with what they did in the early days of Xbox 360, but guess what, they turned down there own strategy in the past and loose focus on the end. They were under estimated the beast, they forgot that they are the challenger in this industry, they just realized, to win the war, they need more then just winning on the first or the second year, they need to build there own first party, they need to build trust by building the armies of fanboys, and loyal consumer, they need to choose and focus what market they after for.

Sony is the winner on this generation, it's hard if the Beast already on the ring, it's already checkmate. PlayStation can counter every movement with Xbox, even if they to try PS3 strategy, they already planned for that. Xbox has realized that they actually the one who need brand trust not the other way around.

But fear not. If you are looking for a good console, Xbox one is full of promise, they may not even defeat PS4 (in terms of sales, exclusivity and graphic), Microsoft almost has infinite money, they will have some good exclusive in the future and gamers who is truly gamers will enjoy it, buy the console no matter what.

Should happen for Oktober as well, Gears and CoD 3 didn't come out until November in 2006. Oktober had Splinter cell and Marvel Ultimate alliance. Browsing through the weekly charts XBox 360 kept doing 80-90k a week until November, then exploded.

Microsoft seems to be doing a lot of things right with the one for the past couple of months. From their monthly updates to the Xbox one to their name bundles and buy our system get a free ga!e deals back in September. I feel its to early to say whether or not the ps4 will keep its lead. What I do know is that Microsoft has a lot of good shit coming. Also comparing how the ps3 caught up to the 360 vs the current One and ps4 situation is very reasonable given anything can happen.

No it's not. Everybody knew PS3 would catch up to the X360, as a matter of fact it took longer than most analysts thought. The differences between PS3vsX360 and PS4vsX1 are very much self-explanatory.

Of course anything can happen but as long as Sony doesn't go bankrupt and continues to support the PS4, the X1 will need a miracle to outsell it globally. The chances are extremely minimal.

Lol everyone didn't know ps3 would catch up to the 360, who told you that? Honestly Microsoft seems to be performing better in terms of games and updates as of late and I wish more gamers would respond to that instead of the ps4's near year long hype.

I don't agree with the "its sales are healthy" mantra. It's selling bad. 2.8m year to date. Good launch and good September (due to more launches). But no, sales are not "healthy".
