Just got this game yesterday as I traded DriveClub and Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare with somebody for it. SoM is a tough game so far and I love how I can avenge my death from the individual who offed me. Still learning the nuances of combat.

The game is pretty good.

It evokes feelings from Assassins Creed, Batman Arkham series, and Farcry 3. Parts of elements feel taken straight from the AC franchise. The vision looks just like eagle vision. The audio filter on logs you find sounds exactly like it does in AC as do some other sounds.

The combat is easier to use, and timing isn't as precise. This doesn't mean the game is easy, I have died many times. But death in the game is important as it plays into how the world evolves.

The main story is not engaging and feels like more of an after thought. Even though the set up is cool. There isn't much substance after that.

But if you enjoy playing Arkham, AC, and Far Cry3 for playing into the open world aspect. Looking at all there is to see, then this will definitely be a good game for you to pick up.

I loved the combat of the game. Its like what everyone says AC mixed with Batman. Great combination.

I was told it was like Arkham... :/

Arkham and AC combat system are similar, they are based on attack and counterattak system. Considering the other elements that are identical to AC I found the experience as a whole much closer to AC.

Not really. Arkham combat is way deeper. AC is more of a means to an end.

Maybe, I never played Arkham, I only noticed the basics are the same. If by deeper you mean the ability to stun or dodge then yes, it is maybe more like Arkham.

You really should try the arkham games, they're way better.

Not a bad game, like others said the combat is a mix of AC + Batman. The nemesis system is awesome, getting revenge on the person that just killed you is very satisfying. They even make you lure them out sometimes.

Story is okay, graphics are awesome, but the game gets repetitive and boring after a while. I played the PS4 version.

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply, I appreciate it very much. Sounds like it's a pretty good game, and I think I will be picking it up tomorrow after work. I love the arkham and assassin's creed games (well, up to part 3, hated 3) thanks again everyone.

Got it on PS4. Finished it, loved it.

Take your time with it, kill some Captains, find some collectibles, don't rush the story!

Overall fantastic game. Nemesis system is awesome and the total since of badassness once you level your guy up is incredible. Onw of the few games in recent years i havent gotten bored with even after beating it.

It is amazing IMO. It is a mix of newer Assassin's Creed, Arkham City, and Dynasty Warriors. I feel that Middle Earth's combat system is better than any of those other series although it does borrow heavily from Batman. It is basically the most refined AC game ever. That being said if you dislike AC or Batman Arkham games, you will almost certainly dislike Mordor and vice versa. The way the game allows you to build your own side stories around characters via getting killed, their promotions, branding enemeis, etc. is AWESOME and does live up to the hype the Nemesis system received. The zooming in and discovering of Captians and Warcheifs as well as leaning how to exploit their fears and weaknesses is addicting also. Super cool finishers and decapitations going on constantly.  Neck and neck with Wolfenstein for GOTY at this point in 2014.
