No generally it's pretty random even with the best infrastructure. If it was pretty predictable you'd have your game right now and you wouldn't be given the run around. Quite frankly no, no it's not better than the alternative and no offence but it's quite delusional or at the very least quite ignorant of the alternative to say it is. But hey lets blame the under-trained and unqualified customer support that isn't paid enough to care for your ignorance and choices that were obviously going to end badly :D.

Of all the digital downloads I've ever purchased, which is many, this is the first with an issue. That tells me this game inparticular has an issue. If I generally had problems with digital downloads I wouldn't have purchased Halo:MCC digitally. Maybe you need to look up the definition of "predictable."

The alternative is settling with games I won't enjoy nearly as much. So please, don't push your inferior choices on me.

I'm not blaming customer support for being ill-equiped to handle this specific problem. I don't think someone with your intellect could figure this out either. I'm blaming them for wasting time with the same solutions that didn't work before.

Anyhow, I might have found a solution because the download is now beyond 50% instead of getting stuck at 31%. Pray for Mojo.

Perhaps you need to look up the word predictable...

pre·dict·a·ble
prəˈdiktəb(ə)l/
adjective

  1. able to be predicted.
"the market is volatile and never predictable"
    synonyms: foreseeable, (only) to be expected, anticipated, foreseen, unsurprising;
    informalinevitable
    "Guido's reaction was predictable"
    • derogatory
behaving or occurring in a way that is expected.
"the characters were very stereotyped and extremely predictable"

Then there are these readily known facts:

Considering the fact that XBL and devs have been attacked or had many issues every week so far, the fact the internet infrastructure is unpredictable at best and the fact that people have been reporting issues not only with this game but every game for awhile now https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/forums/84ad72a8b51847978545f685f651fc15/topics/mcc-pre-download-not-working/bce69c01-eac6-41ce-8e38-27b2e2e3b2a1/posts

The only thing that is fair to say was "predictable" was the fact that you were going to have issues with your download. But what do I know, and what do those countless people that warned of this and complained when MS first revealed their old plans to go all digital know?  I hate to break it to you but the fact that you have been lucky until now doesn't mean that is the rule, it means you are the exception to the rule. See in the real world outside of your quaint little diluted bubble people have issues all the time. Ya just have to look at any support forum to see that.

The only reason you think the alternatives are inferior is because you are incapable of escaping your own ignorance and bias and try them and see them for what they are. So you really got no one to blame for your problems but yourself. As far as this issue goes there are only two entities at fault, MS for not really giving a damn, and you for making terrible choices, ignorance fueled assumptions, and not seeing this coming like everyone else did from a mile away.
So my advice to you: Get off your high horse, quit lashing out at those that try to help you, get out of your bubble and explore the alternatives, and don't talk down to those that are clearly your intellectual superiors. Especially when you made a bone headed mistake and put your foot so deep into your mouth that you will be shitting shoe laces for weeks.

All Hail the Jester King. The King is back, and I am still a dirty girl prof ;)

First of all I would like to say that being sarcastic and offensive doesnt helplp someone who's job is to deal with you either for his part.

Secondly you are being a smartass to him when MS is a publisher and bot the developer like you so wrongly "inform" him.

Lastly I would love to see the start of the convo as in why he thought you meant an older Halo game developed by Bungie ( not MS ). Since so far you were the onlyone incorrect in what you pasted on here... You never know :)

Also this is my first post and personally I never had an issue with MS support. There is a reason they are the best rated support even when it comes to twitter. Not just too polite and speak english properly ( :p ) but also refund, redirect and help out rather successfully and quick enough.

Right, all my other digital downloads have worked fine... except this Halo digital download. Hence, this problem wasn't "anticipated."

I'm gonna stick with my bias of games I prefer. I know what the competition offers, I played their games on 7th gen platforms and 8th gen titles are more of the same. I'm opting for X1 because Gears and Halo were more enjoyable than anything the competition offered, in my opinion ofcourse. Oh, Killer Instinct is also one of the best fighting games ever created.

Even if the PS4 was a trouble free experience (unlike PS3), I'd still have to settle with games I don't much care for. That simply isn't a solution for me.

It helped me, because it got him to wrap up the useless troubleshooting. What you don't see is over an hour of bullshit I already did the day before with a different tech support person. Tech support should never be do the exact same trouble shooting you did yesterday.

No, 343 Studios is a MS owned, therefore MS developed! Regardless, the solution isn't a link from Bungie. That was completely usess and not releated to the problem I was having. That website also directed me to MS support.

That's the thing, I contacted them twice and neither was listening to my specific problem. Their answers were "do all our basic troubleshooting again" and "your network is having an issue even though all other downloads are working fine." From my experience working customer service, that's bad cusomter service.

They weren't trying to find a solution, they just read a script and waste time. When that became clear I snapped and that finally got results.

pugglys getting the other end of the stick.. fjrst time ive seen your own turn on you, byt its the first time ive seen you criticise ms for anything too.

reality is,  ms,  sony and nintendo all have terrible support,  with ms and sony you occasionally get slmeone who actually tries to help and isnt on their period emotionally,  or someone who really needs the toilet so ignores the *run you around the houses to avoid costing the company money* rulebook and just gets shit done,  but from experience you have a 70% chance with both on being handed off to someone who is quite happy to waste your time and his/hers patronising you with questions like "is the console plugged in".

Nintendo support has been the worst offender in my experience,  when my wiiU eject mech stopped working,  after repeatedly telling the staff that the game i put in was showing up on the dash but not ejecting they actually asked "is there a game inserted,  can you put another disk in?"

That's customer service for ya. Most of the time, simply terrible.

And sadly it is not exclusive to any one company!

Well i don't mind some useless tech support if its just a little while. But this was my second time contacting them and their solutions were do everything again. They don't listen to your specific problem. They rather spend hours trying the same crap to waste time. They're littlerally just trying to waste time in my opinion.

Also, its a 45GB download. So that means I'd have to let it download again, thus contacting them a third time when the same solutions didn't work.

I've worked customer support before. That's awful customer service and quite frankly they were rude before I was. That made going off on them easier.

First of you really need to stop saying MS developed. Please :p

I can understand your frustration. You need to understand that reading a script is what makes them fast. And let people compare support to other companies. They are much better. Its like comparing support of Samsung and Sony when it comes to TVs. Sony gets 5/100 and samsung gets a 90/100. It could be worse. Being tech savvy would firstly tell you the same about your connection. does sound like its from your end and not theirs. Well its the first thing that comes to mind without thinking the upload is faqed up. Its their job to ask you stuff like that. I am one impatient soab that even till now finds it hard to not tell support off each and every time. I used to be the worse of the kind when it came to a customer. My ADSL company all support members knew me by my full name after all the namecalling they would hear from me 24/7 >:)

Point is that the fact you contacted them a second time got you even more frustrated. Its when we cant see things objectively. Just three days ago i was cursing a dude for MyRewards issue. Simply cause the first person thought we fixed it and the other was repeating till they got at the same part of the script to get through their heads what I had been pointing out... I FN DID WHAT THEY TOLD ME TILL THAT PART WHICH DIDNT WORK!.

If its your job to follow a "protocol* you dont risk your job for someone that called. Its like yelling at the register for the high prices. As for the Bungie fiasco, yeah that sucked but YOU my friend were wrong as well :) Sony has Studios developing, Ubisoft, MS etc. The big names publish. Most my friends piss me off for not getting the difference.xD ffs

P.S. what WAS the issue..?
