germany was the only european territory, where driveclub charted #1 in its first week (because of 2 promotions from amazon.de back in 2013. buy 2 third party games, get one first party free. buy ps4 for 399 and get driveclub for 20 euro)

uks second week drop was just 45%, but i suspect it was because of the bundles and we see a bigger one in week 3 (fifa 15 + minecraft bundle back at 349 and the wihe ps4 standalone available)

Not surprising. We'll see if it'll pick up after the server issues are sorted out.
So DriveClub was part of a promotion way back in 2013? Wow.

it was announced as launch game. and beside  fifa and cod (shooters), racing games are the third bigges seller on consoles here in germany (even gt6 did very well, while bombed hard in some other territories)

i know one guy in person and several on german forums, who just kept theire preoders for the whole year.

would u cancel ur 20 bucks preoder game u get from that promotion without anything in return? ofc not ;)

this was mainly due to the rumored february 2014 realse. the game promo was from december and all paticipants got theire other 2 games or the console alreday and just waited for the rest to be delivered in februaray. but the game was delayed. and after that u could decide if u cancel it and get ur money back, or keep the preoder and still a new relase for 20 bucks on day one

Doesn't look too bad to me. Scratch the newly released games and Fifa which always sells more than everything else in Germany and it's at rank 6 :)

Could very well be back in Top 10 next week. Then again it was never supposed to sell well in retail.

Don't know what you're getting at. F1 2014 was released in that week. It will be below Driveclub next week for certain. Also F1 is arguably a lot more popular in Germany than UK.

not only f1 is more popular in germany. its racing games itself.

but as i said. its even behind f1 while uk showed a different picture. i doesnt have the legs u would expect from a racing game of the leading console here.

and im not even sure, if f1 will be below driveclub next week in germany.

last gen sales drop with lower numbers than current gen ones because of the big installbase and very frontloaded current gen games

and without any retailer promotions for driveclub or driveclub bundles, the sales will drop hard. non happend this week.

I guess you conveniently forgot the other thread where some people and I  explained why retail numbers for DC will suck. Not because of the game, but its circumstances. You can't compare it with other racing games or any other games for that matter unless they also have half of the game for free.

I am surprised that the sales are that high even, which might be connected to the missing free version of the game where people couldn't wait and plunged.

The rest of the potential buyers will get the free version and either get their fill from that or upgrade it to full digitally. I don't think it's a stretch to say that driveclub will have by far the highest digital/physical ratio of any physical release in 2014.

I'd wait for Sony's digital numbers before I argue about the sales of it.

what about the average guy. do they all know about driveclub PS+ and free Version?
the free Version ist not even out now. how should they know about it?
and People who not already own a PS4 cant know or buy that game either. so its hard to advertise it to new customers. u still just can use the normal phiscal realse and Version

i still do know People, who never ever had a look at the PS online store. they just buy theire yearly cod and fifa on disk.


the Price is a Point, but its still only 1/3 saving. tahts a good deal, but not a gangbuster deal everyone would kill for ;)

so it Need to sell 500k Units retail to reach 1.5m by 70% digital attachrate.
but it wont have a 70% digital attach rate



as i said earlier. we should just wait for the psn Bestseller lists for cotober and see if driveclub will #1 at least for eu

edit: look at mincecraft on x360. digital version releases 6month earlier. its a cheap 20 bucks "arcade" game, but the digital:physical sales ratio is just 55:45 (number out of my mind. need to check numbers. dont have time for that anymore)

imho driveclub will be in the 30-40% digital attachrate range. not more
