Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How subjective are "new facts" in the Smash bros 50 New Facts Direct this Thursday? Update: Direct also called "50 Must-see Things"

Sakurai promises to show 50 facts that we've never heard/seen before but this is hugely subjective. What if it means 50 facts he hasn't mentioned before in his Picture of the Day miiverse and Smashbros.com posts? If so, he can decide to talk about the secret newcomers and present each of those characters' moves as facts. Or maybe he won't do that because some people have already unlocked all the secret characters in the 3DS game?

What do you think Sakurai means when he says there will be 50 new facts?

edit: The inspiration of Sakurai presenting newcomers and their moves as facts came from this miiverse post for Wednesday:

Pic of day: Here's what's happening behind the scenes in one of the secret fighter's shooting moves. The object being held is called an NES Zapper. This is an accessory which was released for the NES outside of Japan. Now, this image is edited, but it's a scene from the secret fighter's reveal video.

As you can see, Sakurai has reveal trailers for the secret newcomers. He could be using these for the direct this Thursday as part of the 50 new facts.

Here's the pic of the day below:

edit 2: In today's pic of day (whch is cool) he calls the direct "50 Must-See Things" as well. Looks like I may have been to pessimistic? His definition of Must-see may be different to our opinion but its sounds better than presenting 50 new facts.

Here's Oct 23rd Pic of Day below:

Pic of day: The giant screen in the Boxing Ring stage for Wii U reenacts the multiscreen effect seen in the arcade version of Punch-Out!! Looks like their aliases are displayed on the screen too. By the way, today, October 23rd at 3 PM PST (October 23rd 11 PM UK time, October 24th 9 AM Sydney Time, we are streaming "Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50-Fact Extravaganza" (“Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50 Must-See Things”).

50 new trophies

(I am preparing for the worst so I dont get dissappointed)

Edit: That pic looks like Diddy is fighting a giant censored penis (could also be an amiibo or assist trophy)

It's Duck Hunt, but is that zapper shown in game?

You say tomato, I say tomato

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

I took it to mean 50 things in the Wii U version that aren't in the 3DS version. Items, stages, trophies, costumes, game modes, music, anything really.

The secret character trailers could be considered new things since we haven't seen the trailers yet.

On the UK Direct site it just says "50 must-see things", no mention of new or facts. Prepare to see a lot of old stuff again.

Figured it was too good to be true, but seeing the character trailers will still be pretty sweet!

As long as he talks a bit about some of the new game modes and confirms there's a stage editor, I'm going to be satisfied.

whats happening ?

Diddy Kong is fighting a blurred penis.

Gah, i'm going to miss this because of a luncheon tomorrow

(granted, i get paid to go to the luncheon, so it's a pretty sweet deal. Just not tomorrow! I'll miss a chance to talk to that girl, too...)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
