Not since the PS2 days have the Musou games reviewed so well. Last gen the highest rated game in the series, including spin offs like Gundam and One Piece  was a 71. Already this gen we have had 3 games destroy that score (although one is still being reviewed).

Hyrule Warriors pulled a meta of 75 on the WiiU
Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate has a 77 on metacritic
And Samurai Warriors 4 (still being reviewed) currently has an impressive 78

Do we think this mid to high 70's could be the new standard for Warriors games this gen with future titles like One Piece Pirate Warriors 3, Samurai Warriors 5 and Dynasty Warriors 9 etc.? Or is it just the early days of the generation and we will all get sick and tired of the series again soon enough?

I will certainly check out DW9 if it reviews better than its predecessors.

You might want to hold off a bit. It has a 100 mixed in with the early reviews. It from the same site that gave Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky 100s.

I noticed this as well. One of the more recent DW's got a 8.7 from IGN and 9 from destructiod. It genuinely surprised me.

Neh, DW games dont really deserve a score below 70 imo cause they aren't that bad but obviously, they do deserve it below 80 although so does Cod... But yea, hopefully, they do something awesome with DW9

I guess they finally realised that there is more to it than button mashing. They probably also decided to try and understand why they keep making these games.
Turns out theres more than they ever bothered to look. The repetitiveness was self inflicted.

Of course, the players who bothered to try and enjoy it, found this out ages ago. And btw... DW8 is awesome. I dont know why you need them to make DW9. DW8XL is on PS4 and Vita aswell.

Yeah but its not too likely to recieve many more reviews, I can definitely see it holding at least a 73. My guess would be 76 though.

It's funny.  Reviewers seem to be clamping down on mediocre games this generation, yet Warriors games are pretty much the definition of mediocre (good, but not great graphics; good, but not great gameplay etc.)

However, I enjoy the games I've played, so I'm very pleased to see them reviewing slightly better.  If only it were reflected in sales.
