Now, Ghibli no doubt.

Old Disney is epic stuff, but new Disney... Sorry to say, is horrible. Absolutely horrendous.

If we take Pixar out of Disney's portfolio then I have no connection to them at all. Ghibli all the way in that case.

Now, a Pixar vs. Ghibli comparison? I would have to think about that one.

For myself, it would go like this...

Pre-1986: Disney

1986-1997: Both Disney and Ghibli

1997-2004: Ghibli

2005-Present: Neither one

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Love Ghibli, Disney by a mile. Their body of work is outstanding and for nostalgia.

It's a tough call. Disney has 50 more years of work to its name, including the first feature-length animated movie, several pioneering animation techniques, and what I consider the best animated movie of all time, Pinocchio. That said, Ghibli has had far more success over to the past 30 years, thanks in no small part to Miyazaki, the finest director of animated movies of his or any other generation.

In the end I'd have to give it to Disney, simply because its library is so deep. If this was a contest between the top ten movies from each studio, however, I'd give the edge to Ghibli.

Nothing better than Ghibli in this world, well except for Disney lol.

I have to think about that one, erm not. Ghibli ofcourse. Disney sold out to 3D CGI long ago. I guess they recognize that since those films up there are all the old ones. Still Ghibli makes more interesting stories with way more interesting characters.

Btw how dare they put Mononoke at nr 8.

I am afraid what will happen to Ghibli without Miyazaki. Still a month to go before the wind rises releases here, his last movie for real this time?

I'm with you: PM is my all-time favorite movie ever.

I'd say Ghibli decently easily...just the level of consistency is astounding, while Disney has quite a few movies that I don't care for.

Ghibli. Disney has abandoned their actual animation roots.

I love animation and I admire Disney from a historical perspective. However, the I body of work rarely impresses me. Taking someone else's idea and animating it often left me indifferent. I love Fantasia as they really tried something bold, and I did enjoy as a kid several films like Robin Hood and Aladdin. However as I grew up Disney stopped being a studio I cared about. Breaks my heart to see them abandon traditional animation. I thought Princess and the Frog was okay, but the animation was gorgeous.

Ghibli, maybe due to its Japanese roots, structure k me as far more creative with places and creatures never saw before. The first time I saw Princess Mononoke my jaw dropped at the designs and animation. I admit their most recent work isn't their strongest, but it was still beautiful to behold. Ghibli ages better to me as enjoy it more as an adult.

I dont include Pixar (who I love) as they feel so unlike Disney. Least they did through "Up". I have concerns they may decline as well.
