Yeah, but everyone's forgetting this service will be laptop/phone/PC etc.. compliant, so while this isn't a good deal for a console owner.  For someone w/o the hardware, it's probably allot more tolerable.

I hate this argument against PS Now.  Show me where you can get a PS3, and the game, for the price of the rental.  When the service is officially live on intended platforms people will be able to load up PS Now on various Sony products (TVs, PS4, Vita, tablets, smartphones, etc)...

Good thing that represents a mere 1.1% of the population of the planet, and that's not meant as an overtly flippant response.  Merely to say, Consoles have absolutely _nothing_ on the PC/Phone market.  Not even remotely close.  The US Alone has an estimated 310.6 million PC's.  That's an absolutely massive market, if Sony can create a pricing model they'd be interested in.

its a stupid counter argument,  why factor in the price of a ps3 AND the game,  but then assume everyone has,  and didnt have to pay for,  a compatible tv,  tablet,  phone or other console?

fact is,  for the same price as a weeks rental you can buy and keep the game forever,  and play it as long or as little as you want, and not need a net connection at all.

and even if you do have a compatible device,  you would still need to go out and buy a controller and potentially,  depending on device,  compatible bluetooth receiver.

Does it work on my Vita?

I think the price is way to high, it should be like 2,99 for a week at most.

You can finish most game in a week easily. Would you mean that most games are not worth more than 3 dollars ?

No, it's not a stupid counter argument, there are many people out there who have no interest in a home console, but are interested in games, and happen to own a TV, Tablet, or Phone.  As far as compatibility, we've no idea how many companies will allow it on their products.  Again, the amount of people this could touch, are the kinds of numbers the games industry wishes it could reach.

Bolded: If you want to buy a home console.  Not everyone does.  Many, many more people feel the need to have a PC/Phone/Tablet/TV.  And whether you agree or not, I've been saying this service is only being tested on Sony's consoles, for stress purposes.  The ultimate intent is to entice the folks who simply don't want standalone gaming hardware in the house.

and yet they'd still need to go out and buy a controller,  its just a much better deal all round to buy the actual console and the games.

p. s.  dont ream off installbase figires for mobile and pc like it matters,  fact of the matter is the reach there will be minimal at best,  of people wanted to play the ps3 games on offer theyd have done so by now,  on another platform,  on their pc or have bought a ps3 to do so already.

Right...because a controller @ $60 is like investing in a console....o.O

If you can't see how this is an enticing demographic for Sony to be targeting, that's not really my fault.  As far as reaming off install bases, it's called supporting data.  Whereas, all you're doing is giving your opinion, for about 7 billion people.

PS. I'll do whatever I want, as long as I'm following forum rules.
