This... Lylat wars is one of my favourite games of all times so I'd love to read through some of your ideas, however right now I could finish SF64 in the time it takes to read the post :D I will later tho!

Um... umm... um. I didn't even realize you were specifically referring to that one thing I mentioned near the end of my essay.
I thought you meant as in stuff Miyamoto's been recently talking about the new game.

Anyways, it wasn't that much specifically Krystal, but if I remember the story right, Miyamoto once visited Rareware to keep up with their latest projects and when he saw Dinosaur Planet he said she looked like a Star Fox character and they could turn it into a Star Fox game - we all know what became of the franchise ever since.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about

Dinosaur Planet probably would've been a much better game. When you force a new idea onto an existing IP, it often doesn't fit quite right

Sounds like a good idea for a longer, larger scale game, basically make 5 or 6 StarFox 64 campaigns, chain them together, add some bonuses to flesh out the experience but still keep it score-based and arcadey at the heart of the gameplay.

What's wrong with Krystal though?

Damn, that was a pretty good tl;dr version.

Krystal... well, she's Krystal. It's more about what she represents rather than what she is. She was never a Star Fox character in the first place. And also, her relationship with Fox was the worst. It felt ridiculously forced. I feel like relationships like this really don't belong in this franchise.

tbh if you include Krystal in the game it means kids are in trouble if they google image "Krystal Star fox" .... she has quite the following of fan artists :D

Screw all of those other guys. I read every single word. If I was at home alone, I'd fap to it. I agree with every single word, except the idea for on-foot missions. Adventures and Assault scarred me for life, and it's been 17 years since I've had a real Star Fox games. I can't afford for Nintendo to take any chance on jacking it up.

I've had Nintendo systems in the past and enjoyed other Nintendo games and mascots. Some of my earliest memories in life are playing Super Mario Bros with my dad, and some of my fondest are playing Kirby's Dreamland 2 in the morning while waiting to go to school, and being blown away by the presentation of SMB3, Super Mario Wold, Donky Kong Country, LoS: Link's Awakening, Super Mario 64. But SF64 was THE game that truly chiseled my Nintendo fandom in stone, and make me beg for an N64 instead when my parents were getting ready to get me a PlayStation. I HAD to have Star Fox 64, screw everything else in the world.

I've been waiting 17 years and across three newer home consoles for Nintendo to get it right and just give me the damn sequel I've been wanting. For all I know, foot missions could turn out to be awesome and enhance a new games in ways I can't fathom. But I don't give a crap right now. Just don't ruin it again and make the damn game with the same laser focus and precision we've been waiting for. Rant over.

As for whether or not StarFox U is going to be anything like this, "episodic" could be similar to what you have implemented here, just released in a possibly staggered fashion or something. "StarFox U, Episode of Lylat" would be your 64-retread of the Lylat system, but then we go abroad or something, a series of 45-90 minute arcade experiences eventually creating a cohesive whole.

No on foot missions

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Should be based around this:

Multiplayer.. forget story, forget Missions... Multiplayer... & Slippy

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

I can see an on-foot mission working. I can also see it backfiring terribly. This is the sort of thing Nintendo would need to heavily play-test to make sure it works before going ahead with it. There likely needs to be a narrative reason why Fox & Co. cannot do this mission in an arwing, which basically requires a stronger narrative than I think a good Star Fox game should aim for. Star Fox is a stage game, not an RPG.

That said, being shot down is any pilot's worst nightmare and there IS a lot of dramatic potential there.

Otherwise, I largely agree. I'd like Nintendo to focus on nailing dogfight controls for all-range combat, because for any system stronger than an N64 dogfights are a must, and to be honest this is where Star Fox 64 kinda struggled.

I think that if I had any problem with the OP it's that it's too much a Star Fox 64 ++ edition and not enough of its own thing. The additions are great, but they're fundamentally bells and whistles tacked onto a solid gameplay. For older Star Fox players (like me) who have been playing it for years this could really be a problem. Nintendo needs to innovate the core gameplay somehow without breaking the feel, and that is not an easy task.

Star Fox needs a new game more than any Nintendo franchise IMO. So much potential.

Slippy is the greatest Nintendo character too, he takes no shit from them other furries.
