Because against popular belief, playstation owners dont base their game purchases solely on resolution and frame-rate.

Tell that to the AC Unity developers...

Because a bunch of nerds calling for boycotts on the internet really proves that the game won't sell. If the forums meant something, CoD would be dead since BOPS2.

Him what do you mean? What choice did ps3 gamers have. Was either accept it or not play the games.

This is the problem right here. They did have a choice of buying a 360...but brand loyalty is more important than quality these days.

This is so ignorant. Some people just want to have one system per gen to game on and they all have different criteria to pick said system and for some people something like "superior multiplats" just isn't one of them.

Why do you think over 5 million people bought an X1? Or over 7 million people bought a Wii U? Do you think all those people are now sitting at home being mad that their system of choice does not have the best version of multiplats/no multiplats at all or that all of them are going out to buy a PS4 or PC aside from the system they already own, so they can play the best versions of multiplats? No, for them that factor simply wasn't all that important.

And that was the same with the multiplats on PS3, people that bought those games on PS3 just didn't care that much.

This whole "we're not accepting lazy ports" crap has only started with the Wii U, where some Nintendo fans needed to find reasons to explain the poor performance of said multiplats and "people don't buy a Wii U for third party multiplats" was apparently not a reason they were willing to accept.

This, they werent gonna buy them anyway

I didn't.  The thread is about why people accepted lazy ports on PS3, your response was that they had a choice to get a 360, but stayed with the PS3 based on brand loyalty.  However, if you look at gen7, at least in the US, the 360 was dominant.  So, with gen8, the brand loyalty thing you suggested would indicate that the XB1 would have more purchasers due to brand loyalty.  I was pointing out that the case was reversed, and people weren't being brand loyal but going where the better experience (perceived or actual, whatever floats you) is on PS4.

Well in the rest of the world the PS3 was the dominant console. Say what you will about the US gamers, but they are usually the smarter buyers.

Wait what makes US gamers the "smarter" buyers?????

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

PSN: StlUzumaki23

defined lazy port? to me as long as the game is playable its fine.

And what are these lazy ports? OP gave one example. I heard another Skyrim (fortunately for me i dont care about either of those). Those are two games out of...hundreds of MP PS360 games? please. How about a list of games that were noticable worse on PS3? Because after about year two it didnt seem to be an issue. And even at its worse the PS3 versions of games were never so bad they were unplayable. Hell i could say the same for WIi U versions of games and no not having DLC doesnt make it lazy, sometimes DLC isnt even handled by the same team(COD) that doesnt affect gameplay

As someone said before this lazy port thing is just an excuse to justify the low sales games on certain systems.

They have more patience I think.

Many ports such as Bayonetta were lazy ports. Why did PS3 owners still buy them? Look at Wii U owners. They knew their systems could do more, and boycotted lazy ports. Not PS3 owners. There were lazy ports of games that actually outsold the usually superior Xbox 360 games. Why didn't PS3 owners boycott lazy ports like Wii U owners.

Like Xbox one owners, they had no choice.

i think we knew the ps3 was a major pain in the ass to code for , if we did devs would just focuson the 360version , wasnt their fault sony made a hard to code console ( imagine if sony HAD USED A MODERN UPDATED CELL WITH LIKE TWICE OR THRICE THE POWER OF THE ps3/OLD ONE, WE WOULD HAVE HAD A MAJOR GAMING BEAST ON PAR WITH HIGH END PCs, surprised cause now cell tech should be cheap for sony and programming for it should be much easier for devs)

Because my Xbox 360 died 9 times in 2007. I'm not kidding. I got to know the UPS man quite good at that time. But in the end it was just too much. Sold the Xbox 360, got a PS3, never looked back.

But I'm also not the type of guy who goes crazy if a game isn't 1080p or 60 fps or whatever. All that counts for me is that the game is fun.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Simple.

Boycott games so NO games come out for months Enjoy them with reasonible criticism.

I play games that are fun. So what if a better version exists on a platform I don't own? I don't boycott driving my car because a Ferrari is better, because I don't own a Ferrari (nor could ever afford one). So long as the port is sufficiently good that the game is still fun (ie not a complete stuttering mess) then that's enough for me.
