I'm a Grower

What are some IP's that you think have a ton of potential left? As technology increases, games can be more detailed & more things can evolve. Maybe, it's not tech related but just a gameplay idea that the developers haven't thought of yet.

Sound off below with your ideas

I'm going to say that Star Fox has a ton of untapped potential. So many different roads they can take it. I'd want them to have both air & land missions. The air missions shouldn't be on rails but more free. The foot missions should have stealth gameplay. Most importantly, I believe they should make a few awesome online & local multiplayer modes. This would expand the series to be more mainstream.

Metroid
Kid Icarus
Splatoon

Just need to do them right and hype them...

I agree with Splatoon. That game has potential to be a big seller for Nintendo. More importantly, it looks like it could be an amazing game series if done right.

I was close to putting that

I say... Excitebike (and motorcross/supercross genre as well)

A good dirtbike racing game could bring the kind of realism we like from many racing sims without sacrificing the free-wheeling kind of racing fun we get out of games like Mario Kart.

There's so much potential with VR/AR with a game like ExciteBike -- you need only watch some real-life GoPro footage to figure that out.

And then there's the whole aspect of how alternative sports games like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, SSX, Dave Mirra's Freestyle BMX etc have now been missing from the marketplace for a long time.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

This is true. A lot of the more niche sports haven't had games in a long time. It would be nice to see someone bring it back with full support for that specific sport instead of a mini game like experience.

I would like a dirtbike racer!

Fire Emblem has grown from a japan only to niche game in the west. Suddenly it "saves" the 3DS! Its gameplay works on all plattforms, it could expand into mobile, online/MMO gaming and even full 3D. It has a mix of art styles (pixel - cartoon - 3D) + gorgeous cutscenes that all can be emphasized on different platforms.

Came in this thread to say this.

Star Fox has the most enormous wasted potential I've seen. I disagree with the on-rails part, I think on-rail Arwing missions should never go, since they're really awesome and the franchise's origin, but they should definitely not be all or nearlly all that the game has to offer. Apart from that, I agree with everything, especially the stealth gameplay on ground missions.

I also always thought about having exploration in Star Fox somehow, like just exploring the inside of the Great Fox and controlling it around space and finding stuff and whatnot, but that's being too hopeful I guess.

I'm pretty sure Miyamoto won't take us outside vehicles in this next game, though. I'm just hoping the game is enough of a success to warrant more games in the series, hopefully good, well-made ones this time around - unlike the terrible GC/DS trilogy that rounded off with that horrifying game that I'm surprised wasn't a franchise killer.

Yup. Star Fox has tons of potential. I believe they should keep a few rail missions here and there but I think most of the game should be in a 3D setting. Star Fox Assult was decent but Adventures was bad. Star Fox 64 easily remains the best.

A dirt bike racer could be fun if done correctly.

I still want to try Fire Emblem. I always have a higher priority in gaming though. Right now, PS4 > 3DS games
