I don't think it is. I think other games such as The Last Guardian and Shenmue 3 are both much much more overhyped than Destiny, in part because neither of them even exists so any hype at all could be called overhype.

Well that's just silly Sir. You can't include games that don't exist.

Someone else mentioned Daikatana and that's a good contender I agree.

Why not? Those games are possibly the 2 most talked about games ever. That is pretty much the definition of hype, no?

Yeah but we have no dependent variable to measure (e.g. an outcome other than their lack of materialization) hence why it's silly. Please let's not derail the thread.

The discussion is about a game which has seen physical release.

Destiny can't be gauged for atleast another year. Asking if it is overhyped within 60 days of launch is too tough to call. Let's see where it is at 1 year in.
