Forums - Politics Discussion - Jehovah's Witnesses/New World Translation Exposed

Now, not ALL of Jehovah's Witnesses (I couldn't have better wording), just the sect and their translation.

To make it really quick, they change the Bible to agree with them when they find a contradiction, instead of changing themselves to agree with the Bible.

I'll do a comparison between NWT, NIV (http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=191979), and KJV.

Genesis 1:1-2

NWT: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth proved to be formless and waste and there was darkness upon the surface of the watery deep; and GOD'S ACTIVE FORCE was moving to and fro over the surface of the waters.

NIV: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the SPIRIT OF GOD was hovering over the waters.

KJV: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the SPIRIT OF GOD moved upon the face of the waters.

Matthew 14:33

NWT: Then those in the boat did OBEISANCE TO HIM, saying: “You are really God’s Son.”

NIV: Then those who were in the boat WORSHIPPED HIM, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God."

KJV: Then they that were in the ship came and WORSHIPPED HIM, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

John 1:1

NWT: In the beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS A GOD

NIV: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS GOD

KJV: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS GOD

(Note: The Word is Jesus according to John 1:14)

Colossians 1:16-17

NWT: because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. Also, he is before all OTHER things and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist

NIV: For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

KJV: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

*rolls eyes*
This is getting a little annoying.

I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness but fell out of it a long time ago. You need to understand that religious text have been modified for political purposes forever so this comparison is to something that itself was altered... by King James... its kinda right there in the title.

The church exposed watchtower since the day they published their altered version of the bible.

First the Qu'ran and now a Bible from the Witnesses. What's next? I mean is this just... religious exposure... month on VGChartz? XD I mean, do whatever you want but this series is already old. You've exposed religion to a demographic who for the most part -probably don't care. Post on a religious debate website. When you post crap like this you're just going to cause flame wars to abrupt and cause tension between fellow users.

>Also I prob wont respond to any response because VGChartz on mobile sucks and so replying is a chore XD actually that should be a thread. Why dont we have a mobile/app version of VGChartz yet? I'd be a million times more active if we did :p

Nintentacle, do you even play video games anymore or are you now a full time religion exposer?

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

And subsequently the church uses an altered Bible themselves.  So its all so very silly and illogical.  Its amazing to see people making a big deal over such small things.   They could have saved some starving children, but instead we get this irrational debate over which interpretation is truest to an ancient writing.  Put me on the first flight off this planet lol.

Like the articles Nintentacle. Look forward to reading some more.

I think the Septuagint kind of proves King James didn't do any changes like the NWT.

Attempting to renounce more religious sects, yet you quote the bible as if it were truth. Lol.. how ironic...

What does it feel like to believe completely and utterly that what you believe is 100% true, without any concrete evidence to back it up? Must be an odd feeling.. I cant say I've never experienced it. In a strange way, a small part of me envies you..
