Take a backseat, religions and sects, translations has the floor! Specifically, the NIV and NWT Bible!

3... 2... 1...

NIV calls Jesus and Satan the morning star (Isaiah 14:12-15 and Revelation 22:16)

NIV says in Deuteronomy 4:2 "Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you."... NIV removes 17 verses and 64,576 words (Among these is taking out the worshipping of Jesus in Matthew 8:2, 9:18, 15:25, 18:26, 20:20, Mark 5:6, and 15:19)

In Luke 2:33, it calls Joseph Jesus' father (Haven't they heard of the virgin birth?)

The NIV publishers published "The Satanic Bible" and "The Joy of Gay Sex".

In NIV, John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.". Why does it says Jesus is God's only son, if in Luke 3:38 says Adam was/is the son of God?

Now for the NWT:

To make it really quick, they change the Bible to agree with them when they find a contradiction, instead of changing themselves to agree with the Bible.

I'll do a comparison between NWT, NIV (http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=191979), and KJV.

Genesis 1:1-2

NWT: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth proved to be formless and waste and there was darkness upon the surface of the watery deep; and GOD'S ACTIVE FORCE was moving to and fro over the surface of the waters.

NIV: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the SPIRIT OF GOD was hovering over the waters.

KJV: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the SPIRIT OF GOD moved upon the face of the waters.

Matthew 14:33

NWT: Then those in the boat did OBEISANCE TO HIM, saying: “You are really God’s Son.”

NIV: Then those who were in the boat WORSHIPPED HIM, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God."

KJV: Then they that were in the ship came and WORSHIPPED HIM, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

John 1:1

NWT: In the beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS A GOD

NIV: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS GOD

KJV: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS GOD

(Note: The Word is Jesus according to John 1:14)

 Colossians 1:16-17

NWT: because by means of him all OTHER things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All OTHER things have been created through him and for him. Also, he is before all OTHER things and by means of him all OTHER things were made to exist

NIV: For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

KJV: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

I give up. I'm reporting you.

Everybody knows King James Version is where it's at!

However, I don't think there is anything wrong with calling Joseph Jesus' father. Can you not refer to adopted parents as father/mother? It doesn't say "biological father" so there is no contradiction.

Im sure you know this, but in John 3:16, the words "eternally begotten" were removed in the NIV which causes a bit of a problem.

Let me check the fourm rules, first, to see if I've even done anything.

Edit - Nope, nothing against the rules (I'm not flaming or trolling anyone. When big reactions come from threads like these, it doesn't necessarily mean the OP wanted "chaos".)

All Bibles are wrong as they call Yeshua by a false name.

I suppose "Josh" is a not very messiah sounding name.

*Edit sorry again. This topic is not trolling or flaming I confused it with another forum post and thought the OP was using Smash brothers to rope people into discussion over the bible. That is not the case, I simply confused two seperate topics because I was watching the new "Manhattan" Which is great btw. So sorry to OP. The discussion is good and the Op makes fair points.

You don't translate the pronunciation of someones name, only it's spelling to fit the language.

Translation is the biggest problem of holy books as they weren't translated directly from source material and were sometime misinterpreted.
