Resident Evil 4 is the better game. In the gameplay department it's miles ahead of TLOU. As for the plot... I liked what TLOU tried to do but I feel it tried to be too dramatic for my tastes. Personally... I loved the cheesy storyline of RE4 a lot more.

This is a great comparison. I love it. With my experience with both games...I'll have to give it to TLoU. However, RE4 was my game on PS2. I played that game for hours and can't front on how many times I've been startled. The gameplay on RE4 at the time was one of the most fluid and accurate you could play on a game. The quality set standards on horror/survival genres outside of Silent Hill.

Still, I think TLoU is a bit better. They also have the advantage of being "more recent". Of course controls are going to improve on a newer console. The controls are pretty good as well. No complaints really. I find the Clickers much more terrifying then the Regnerators. That's just a personal opinion though. It's debatable. Anyway, that's the gist of it. I could do a full blown review on both games because I loved them that much. I just have to side with TLoU between the 2. RE4 is right there with it though.

I would have to go with RE4 over The Last of Us. There were just so many great moments in RE4 and when I think about comparing The Last of Us, I think about the scenarios that are similar but done better in RE4. The defend the cabin sequence on RE4 was so much better than the small shack Ellie defends. The sniper section to protect Ashley in RE4 was more tense than the sniper section on Last of Us. I also felt like RE4 had better variety, boss battles, etc.

If you guys liked either of these games you really should pick up The Evil Within. It feels like a combination of RE4 and The Last of Us.

One of those did not run with 18-26 fps when a single enemy entered the room.

So that one wins!

It looks like TLOU is in the lead by 1%.

Looking back, I find it very impressive how solid RE4 runs considering how hard it pushed the GCN/PS2.

TLOU pushed the PS3 perhaps a bit TOO hard...

RE4 because the scariness and creepy feeling all throughout the world. I've never played a game where the world felt so scary and even if you played the game several times before, it always feels new in a way.. I just love the scale and creepiness of the game.

I gotta say that both games are amazing and perfectly done, but my vote goes to TLOU because:

-better story
-better gameplay
-more challenging
-Ellie is so damn cute!!

While RE4 has:

-more variety of enemies and bosses
-more puzzles (especially garden maze, unlocking doors and devices)
-more variety of weapons and upgrades

As you can see TLOU has slightly upper hand here....so there's that.
